What the heck is that a piece of wood and wire for a trans mount?

what ? did I work on your car ?

first get / replace the trans rubber monut........and then check / fill / flush the transmission fluid and replace it's filter.

and when was the last oil change on this poor vehicle ?

and cross your fingers it will move.

After you do what was suggested and it still doiesn't move check to see if the parking brake is stuck

Ok thank you all for the help I was thinking I wasn’t going to get an answer this soon, but I rescued this vehicle off some ppl who didn’t much care for it sold it for dirt cheap no crank no start. I’m sure that piece of wood and wire was them they said it drove before and I should have gave a little bit more info. It did move as of yesterday but the way it moved was not pretty it reved pretty high before moving and even moving it was high rpms and only going not even 5 mph same with reverse and today finally committed to taking it out and now she doesn’t move at all, was going to change the filter and fluid like you guys said and when I looked down there I see this so now just replacing that fluid is only one part of my problem.

But what I’m going to do now is flush the transmission and and change the filter and next get the correct rubber trans mount.

That's some hillbilly shed right there! And, here, I thought I did some redneck stuff!

Sounds like it's low on fluid. As far as the thread title: that's normal for the driveshaft- it has to be able to slide at the trans to compensate for the rear suspension movement. Usually, 3/4-1" of play.....

Didn't anyone hear the news? Dense organic cellulose based bushings and mounts are the new thing.
