The good coaters coat the insides, too.

Where I work we have thermal barrier coatings used for turbine combustor panels. One of the guys plasma sprayed his headers with this thermal barrier coating and you could touch them while the car was running. Because it was coated on the "wrong side" of the metal, it considerably reduced the life of the headers... but they were great for changing plugs at the track.

Why can't Edelbrock bring them back? Stainless with the option for a Y-pipe or not, smog or not. Even an LS set for you modern guys. Hell, lets not forget the BBC & all the BOP's.

Hooker also used to make similar emission legal headers called 2050 I think. Hedman makes emission legal long tube headers for G bodies now, but they probably are not a direct fit like the old shorties.
