Wanting to replace my stock coil fan with an aluminum flex fan...

'84 Monte Carlo 305 SBC

I have a stock fan shroud and a long water pump...

What fan size and spacer size would I need ?

You 'gotta have some wiggle room here. If you only got an answer to your EXACT question....

You wouldn't have gotten the recommendation of where the fan should be & to actually measure your parts to be sure on what spacer is right for you.
You wouldn't have found out about the recommendation of flex fans not being used in plastic shroud apps.
You also wouldn't have learned about your accessory system being a reverse rotation.

We could have said 'yes' that's the right spacer in response to your question because technically you don't need a spacer if you're not worried about it working correctly.
Would you be ok if it didn't work because it wasn't compatible w/your other parts? These details make a difference & require more discussion. In the added discussions, people will share their insight. Take & do w/that insight what you will but don't complain about it.
Recommendations are fine, but do we gotta be a complete dicks and sarcastic *ssh*les about it ?...that's all I'm saying...🤷🏾‍♂

Well, his threads get clicks. Hope GP403 is enjoying the revenue.
Case in point...

Sad...

Do you realize that you quoted me reminding you, with specific post, that your original question has been answered? Others have answered your question too. On behalf of myself and any other narcissists that have taken time out of their busy lives to walk you through all of your issues, you're welcome.

I guess because we can't be adults about things, I just need to block the negative members from my account and threads...

I didn't come here to argue over the internet with anyone or create conflict with anyone...

I came here to learn about everything about my G-Body...and asking as many questions as I want and clarifying whatever I'm taught is LEARNING...

Nonsense not to have that concept in a platform like this gladly offering and producing advice and help...

I'm sorry, but I'm the creator and administration of my own group of 2,000 people nationwide and I provide help and advice to them and hundreds of locals. I deal with "difficult people" but I can't find it in me to degrade, put them down, and push them to quit their goals.

I know eventually things will click to them one way or another, someday somehow...but everyone learns differently and nobody is born with knowledge...guess that's why I'm a good teacher 😎❤🎯‼💯

This is getting out of hand and I want to put a stop to it before I continue to entertain it, and say things I really shouldn't say...

I really just want the advice, and help I'm looking for and your relevant recommendations...and unfortunately, I see I'm not going to get that from some members ...🤷🏾‍♂

How do I block members ?

Not ignore, but "block" another member ?

Yes, an answer I acknowledged and spoke of already...you due realize that right ? While your counting the number of posts I make, did you count that ? Narcissist always need an audience...just walk out on your own, no need to gather an army to take with you.

And thank you to the non narcissists who did it because they genuinely wanted to help...

Greatly appreciated...seriously 😎❤🎯‼💯

Now, all B.S. aside...

I've canceled the order on the fan because it is a standard rotation, and by the setup I have it won't work...

For clarity, what damage is caused if the wrong fan is installed and ran ?

Not sure if I am repeating anything. just replying to the quoted question.

If the incorrect rotation fan is installed the air will not be pulled through the radiator and your engine will overheat when not moving.
If the bolt pattern does not match up it may wobble, this includes if the holes are to large and it is not centered properly.
Obviously it must fit in the shroud. Running without a shroud will decrease the air flow through the radiator.
Make sure to check clearances once installed. If it has a chance to flex into anything take it out. Don't want to take chances with spinning blades.

Not sure on the spacer. You have a different belt setup on there than stock. You may need to get the fan and measure prior to mounting it. Also do you have a stock width radiator in the stock location? If your radiator is wider or set back further than stock the location of the fan may need to be different, thus a different spacer.

As a side note I run the stock clutch and pulleys on my 87 Monte Carlo so the information that I am supplying if from experience with other vehicles and not your setup specifically. Keep in mind that since it appears that you have had changes made over the years and different parts used what is required for your job might be different than others.

Hope this helps.

Fan blades in the wrong direction & turning backwards won't work as well to pull the air through the radiator. You're cooling system will likely struggle to cool.

Another thing to clarify.... You focused your attention to the hardware clamping down on the fan as the failure point. That's not where they fail. They fail @ the actual fan blade itself.

You also mention you won't be revving the motor that much. A sbc usually idles around 700rpm. Cruise rpm is say 2k rpm. Highway speeds are between 2-3k rpm. Have you ever thrown one of those Chinese throwing stars? Just a good zip from your hand/arm can make it stick in a fence, sheetrock, or whatever. The blade coming off a fan even @ 750rpm is enough to do damage. They can also take your finger off @ idle if you're not paying attention under the hood.
