I'd be worried about the floors. In my experience, by the time people get around to covering the hole where the water has been leaking in for years, it's too late.

I do like both versions of those a lot, though.

We have to remember how awful performance was in 1980. A factory mid size with a 350 was a big deal. It ran the 1/4 in similar times to some cars 0 to 60. Would it have made way more sense to run the 403, at least in 79, should have been a 10th anniversary in 78 as well. They were already skirting fuel economy numbers and emissions with the limited number built. So Absolutely! Why not the 403? At least they didn't leave the 260 in it and call it a 442 like the 78 hunch back.

Lots of interesting comments.

The number that was on the mail box was no good, I did leave a note in the mail box with my number but on my next trip In two weeks I’ll be hitting up the business next door to see if small town people really know all their neighbors.

I fall in the “restore it as much as it can be camp” and while I’d rather have an 87 in grey/silver I maybe could suffer lol. It is in way better starting shape than my Malibu so the condition doesn’t deter me but this would be stored until the Malibu is finished. Or I could throw a spare LS in it and drive it as a survivor.😗
