We don't have any money.
Theyve printed way more paper money then we have gold to back it up.
Bush ran around acting like he had an unlimited credit card, now we will never be out of debt.
They should have left Bill in office, We woulda been out of debt by 2020 if they would have fallowed what he started.
Someone should send bush a card that says "daddy couldnt do it and neither could you"
Way to ruin america.

FYI, we don't keep gold to back up our currency.....haven't for a long time.
Our money is backed up by the "full faith and credit of the United States".

Yeah, we completely went off the gold standard during the Kennedy or Johnson administration. I believe it was in 1964 or 1965. Clinton went ahead and canceled all orders for new weapons and armaments upon taking office. He then spent down our resources by using up cruise missiles, etc. instead of taking real action. No matter who took office in 2000, we would have had to increase our military spending. Also, inaction after the first WTC bombing in 1993 allowed Al Quaieda time to make new plans, and attack us on 9/11. Had Clinton taken out Bin Laden when he had the chance ( and he did on at least one occasion), we may not have found ourselves in the situation we do today. The Clinton administration did a lot of things that made them look good in the short term, but insured that there would be big problems for whoever came later. They did not do anything that was good in the sustainable long-term, and as such, we now need to clean up their mess.

To fix our faltering economy, we need to reduce regulations and costs so that businesses will want to produce things here. Doing away with The Clean Air Act, and the EPA would do wonders for our economy. Restrictions on union organizers would also help bring jobs back, as would relaxing OSHA. I would love to see legislation that made all states right to work states, and thus kill most of the power that unions have by forcing workers to join their organizations to work in certain industries.

The plan for the real powers that be ie most of the real wealth richest most powerful/influential people/families around the world have been for a one world government for many years. Long before they took us off the gold standard as bankrupting this country is a requirement for that to happen. The country is bankrupt now it just has not collapsed yet. They will do that when they have everything in place. The dollar and any other bond or debt that is ultimately backed by the US government will be as worthless as confederate money. The only thing you can do to protect your assets and being totally at their mercy is to get your assets out of cash or bonds/debts and into land, a profitable business that keeps a going concern, or real property ownership. Real ownership as in paid for no debt. Maybe even stocks or stock funds as they are still real ownership in real properties & businesses.

So would a new set of heads qualify for a real property ownership? ha ha I guess not if nobody wants to buy them when you need food or supplies money, and or you can't afford the gas to run them.

What is disturbing is that every man, woman and child owes $25,000 towards the debt. We need to get rid of all of this socialism and start spending the money instead to retire it. Even when we had surpluses in the 90's we did not use it to pay down the debt, but rather spent t on more social programs. I am not sure there is any thing you can invest in that is a stable store of value should our entire economy collapse. Even gold has no value when you NEED food or water to live and can't get it. I however, do not think it will come to this. However, I also have no faith in either of our current political parties being able to solve this. It will take someone willing to do things that hurt in order to move away from this, maybe something like the Libertarian party which believes in a very basic government with no frills. What the Republicans used to say they believed in before we became the party of Mc Cain.

Oh, and if it keeps going like this, we will NEED a stronger military--to keep our creditors from repossessing our nation!

Dont think the military will save you from anything. They'll have direct orders from the commander in chief to act out as needed. Thats why we have the right to bear arms... for now at least.

We are heading toward a North American Union and the Amero around 2010. The scary thing is this is not being enacted through Congress!

The Libertarian party will never have a chance... the powers that be wont let it - sorry! All hope will be lost if McCain wins as he's just a puppet of the Neocon party. I'm voting for Obama - yep there I said it! Flame away! I've had enough of the Clintons and Bushs running the country/world. F-it. We need new blood... just not from the middle class and our troops anymore.

Obama is a new face pushing failed old ideas. I am not a fan of McCain, I just dislike the other side of the isle even more. As for the Libertarians, I agree that they have no chance, but their more basic idea of government is better than the bigger government options the others are all proposing. We will wind up like France if we vote for the Dems. We will wind up like France-Lite (just like regular France, but with only half the fat and socialism!) with McCain. The era of big government it seems is here to stay, because people treasure a false sense of security more than liberty. What happened to the idea of taking responsibility for your own actions? I don't know. But I really do not like the direction the country seems to be taking. McCain is not a conservative, that is why those of us who are conservatives do not like him. I have to vote for him simply because there is a better chance at good judges with him than with the other 2. With Obama, be prepared to give up an unprecedented amount of liberty and cash, so that he can reshape the country in the image of Karl Marx. Maybe I am being unfair. It will likely be more like Benito Mussolini's vision of the world than anything else. Basically, the way the Dems want to do things is to have big businesses, sanctioned by government, do all for the people they employ. In return, they will probably protect them against competition and ensure their monopoly on the market. That is basically the way that fascism works as an economic theory.

Well lets just be honest here. Our Democracy is two wolves and sheep voting on whats for dinner.

McBush will continue what we already have: This illusionary war on terror, the continued loss of our liberties under the guise of the patriot act and 'being protected', high gas prices, low valued dollar and a diminishing middle class. Any true conservative that votes for McCain should be ashamed to do so and is just supporting our current situation.

Take a look around at how things are now.. The Neocons have taken over the Republican party - if they have their way, our troops will only leave Iraq to march into Iran. World war, increased homeland scrutiny.. I mean 'security'... and you're worried about fascism?? Wake up - its on our doorsteps. I don't understand how someone can preach about losing liberties and support our current situation with a vote for another big oil, big money chicken hawk.

Actually, what disturbs me is the lack of neocon influence in the current direction of the party. It has become too much like the Democratic party in actuality, and supports too much government intervention. Plus, with McCain making all of these anti-wealth speeches he does, I am scared about the future of our free market system. I have never had an illusion that this war would be anything other than what it currently is: a cluster f**k with no clear end strategy that will happen in the short term. Yet, I supported it from the beginning because we need to enforce our will on those who would move against us. I have no illusion of a quick exit, because the problem is cultural more than anything else. Unfortunately, we have no choice. Walking away now would be seen as a loss of face, and embolden our enemies. We cannot live in a western vacuum any more because we live in a very global world. Either we will influence them to change to our ways, or they will do the same to us.

Is that your 'satire' again? Seriously? The Republicans are nothing but Necons they way the want to wage endless war on our so called 'enemies' in the middle east. And if you think you can believe what McCain is saying to try and get elected, you really have your head in the sand. In 2000 Bush ran on platform on non-foreign intervention, not policing the world and no nation building. He sure held true to that one. McCain is pandering..what else is new.

How much to we have to pay to save face? The blood of one American solider isnt worth the blood of any Iraqi or one drop of oil. It was a huge cluster, still is, and will be as soon as we leave. I dont believe we should be in the business of 'influencing' others. It has 0 to do with spreading democracy. It's nothing more than a modern day crusade for OIL. And if you believe what the corporate owned media reports, that they will come 'get us' you're just buying into the fear they are selling.
