Getting the F' Outta Dodge.

That it does. Problem with me is I've been away from where I grew up for so long I'm not sure anywhere is a natural fit anymore when it comes to weather. Again, more curiosity what states Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike is considering.

That's a huge motivator for me, but damn I hate being hot.
After spending most of last year 200 miles south of Miami, you'd be surprised how fast you acclimatize to it. AC in the bedroom, a gallon of water before noon and your set.

I like the idea of Montana if we need to have winter. The physical move would be much shorter than Ontario to here.

Tennessee. Music, culture, and pro hockey. Much less winter.

it is the embodiment of everything that the rest of the world thinks of when they think of America.
god, I hope not! but then again, maybe that explains the ugly-american-tourist-rep overseas

I'd have to agree the general opinions and behavior of most residents of Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin are an embarrassment and would create negative vibes for most sensible folk. They should move to commiefornia and be done with it.

There are lots of great folks stuck in the biggest cities for work, probably like all big cities. However, the big cities are where all of the stinkers are. The most populous counties in Texas, like Harris County, where I live, suck. Full of stinkers. The rest is great. Go to paces like Llano or Eden to see the good parts. I expect Mike would be pretty happy in the Panhandle. The values are probably pretty in line with his, it's rural and there is still real winter. It's hot there though.

I'd love to meet the guy who came up with boiled peanuts. Too damn lazy to shell them so what would make them palatable? Lets just boil them whole! But they were clearly wrong on the whole 'making them palatable' part.

depends on what you like. high plains, prairies, forest, sea coast, hill country, farmland with trees. and the culture that goes with it, whether it be conservative or liberal, old crotchety folk or young activist folk.
I live in Austin but not downtown. been here 27+ years but it has just gotten too big. and I'm tired of dealing with the monolithic knee-jerk politicians in this state. so I'm already making plans to move on. real forest, real mountains, real change of seasons.

Went to an INDOOR car show with the family today. People were stacked butts to nuts in the convention centre. Got to say hi to some (new) friends and saw lots of cool vendors. There are definitely some well built cars out West. They even had competitive engine building with co-ed and all-biological women's teams... when they fired them up Tatiana and Talia were spooked and almost dropped their fries. They got the ladies spin wrenches with the best of them... hopefully this further inspires them.

If it was purple, brightly lit, or had lots of flake in the paint my girls were drawn to it like moths to flames.

Here's some stuff that caught my eye that I figured folks here would appreciate.
