I'd drive it as is.

Part of me (the part that forgets the back issues) wants to buy an old hand crank car just to confuse the hell out of the youngins. Millennial heads would be exploding everywhere

It IS a driver as-is. No hand crank but the starter button is on the floor and it has a clutch pedal and a choke knob. Make an offer and 'splode those heads 😄.
