I’m sure he’ll love you if you can keep the fire burning all summer 😉

My goal - if the neighbors don’t like my noise and smell, then I don’t have to offer them a beer.

Ahh, just kidding. - they don’t like the noise and tire smoke in the summer

2nd pic was technically his fire. He cooked off all the tumbleweeds that had collected against the fence. All of this is a seasonal thing here. There are hundreds of acres of corn fields and orchards upstream of me and all of the irrigation runoff comes through my lower pasture on it's way back to the irrigation ditch to be recycled.

So what I read is that you have access to free water and free fertilizer. Time to pick a small scale cash crop and join the local coop.

My plan for this season is to flood irrigate the lower pasture. I'm working on fencing now. I'll have sheep at some point but not sure if I'll have them this summer or not. It'll be broken into 3 pastures that are approximately 1 acre each. Should support 6-10 sheep pretty easily.
If you aren't familiar, hair sheep are pretty cool. They are super hearty, gentle on fencing, disease resistant, no shearing, and typically drop twins. Don't even need water unless they're on winter hay. Plus, they're pretty delicious.

And when the wife has friends you dislike visit, you can make haggis for dinner then explain what they just ate over dessert.

and what kind of "cash" crop would you be thinking of?🤔

Top of my head? Maybe sorghum. Would be more drought hardy and better mix for periodic irrigation from waste out of the ditches that wouldn't be missed downstream. Leaves behind forage for the sheep to graze down afterwards.

It's a runner. No smoke, no leaks, no weird noises. I need to source a longer clutch cable before its wheelie time.
