I've heard of calling a wife the old bird, but, she may take exception if you call her 'she shed' the chicken coop.
I realized I hadn't updated on my dad's latest project. We went down to see it in person and do the deal, about 500 miles away, but he had it shipped to his place. It finally showed up last week.
Another '37 pickup, last registered in '81. It was obviously somebody's baby at one point. Has a stuck 59A swapped in it along with hydraulic brakes.
Some other interesting items are the louvers on the hood top and the interior had all been redone in brown naugahyde at some point. The dash, ash tray, garnish moldings, rear window frame, and wiper motor covers have all been chromed.
The surface rust isn't really an issue but the rockers are soft, like almost all '35-37s. What's amazing is how crazy straight it is. It's like it was never used as a pickup.
The grille is damn near perfect. And the rear fenders are the best I've ever seen -- ever. None of the fender arches have the typical cracks or repairs.
He's checked the brakes and is trying to free up the flathead.
The decision has already been made to ditch the flathead though. I donated my old SBC-to-early ford transmission adapter parts.
He bought a perfect running low mile 307 that's going in. Then his neighbor gave him a super tired 283.
The general game plan is more of a preservation than restoration. It'll have a '60s shop truck flavor. He's mostly setting it aside until next winter.

That's why you rev it to the moon. Early 283 with the forged crank and rods from the factory?
