Interior shot looks killer. Will the dye hold up on the steering wheel? I thought I would have to get my hoop recovered in my 442 Grey color. Never occurred to me that you could paint it and have it stay on with your hands on it every day.

Did you scotch brite the two spokes of the steering wheel, or was it that good looking from the get go?

I have painted many steering wheels and never had a problem. BUT, I never kept any long term. A year is the longest. I put on pretty heavy at the top because that's where my hand stays. It obviously would not be a forever fix but it could be reshot again easily. The spokes have been scotch brited but I have hand prints on them from handling it off the fresh paint

I put on my screen printed decal for my horn button and snapped it on the steering wheel. I guess I don't have the correct horn contact. The one I have is a spade but nothing on the back of the button takes a spade. Anyone know what spring contact I need? Maybe a pic?

x2 on the horn button. Instead of a spade, it's a wide loop of metal. Interweb search comes up empty.

Today I have painted and installed some smalls ( core support to fender braces, hood latch parts, and AC brackets). I bolted on my air conditioning stuff just cause I'm tired of having it in the trunk.

Did you spray a clear over your color coat for added wear protection? I have always used SEM low luster clear on mine

So I had a problem with my AC compressor support bar fitting. It was in the way of my fuel line I made. I cut about 5 relief cuts into it and bent it where it fit good. I then mig welded it up and ground it smooth. It just needed a little jog in it. I rounded the corners just so it would look better.

I have been building the custom stock style air cleaner. I removed the stock tapered snout. I then cut a piece of 4" oval muffler pipe from Spin Tech. I tacked it on angled down just a little. I built filler pieces and tacked them in. I cut out the area for the square holed crank case vent and located it to a spot that lined up with my new valve cover. I have more welding to do but this is a mock up so you get the idea. I'll paint it black and put on a repro air cleaner decal on the side. I have a curved 442 logo stencil for the lid. The lid is off a 4.3 fuel injected Monte Carlo. It is lower so I'll gain some hood clearance. I also bought a K&N air filter for it

I don't use clear on my interior parts but on a steering wheel is probably a good idea
