Whats up G body Family,

I recently built an 83 monte carlo with an mild 355 small block, TH400 Trans, and .390 gear,, I've been running it the last couple years. I want to go faster just like anybody else here LOL.. So I just bought a 2006 5.3 LM7 out of a 2006 yukon xl for a price I couldnt pass up.. Any ideas on how to get 400hp out of this motor on a budget of 3,500. Any help would be much appreciated..

As said, basic bolt-ons will get you there or close. Cam, headers, exhaust, cold air intake, etc. Keep in mind, the power curve will be up there. I have one in my 08 Sierra. It doesn't wake up until above 2500 RPM and really does it's business from 3000-6200. It requires a high stall speed torque converter and steeper gears in the rear to be enjoyable on the street. Without that stuff, it would really be a low engine speed dog.

On a budget of $3500 you could do a single turbo build and be in the 500+whp range. Flipped truck exh manifolds, gt45 turbo, ls6 cam, PAC valve springs, 80 lb injectors, ptc torque converter....etc. You could get there on a limited budget and a turbo build would compliment what you already have (th400 and 06 5.3 with gen4 connecting rods).
