Help with 85 Elky headlights

Found the problem. I was reading an old thread on an 85 GP with a similar problem. Turned out to be the dimmer switch. I replaced mine and voila' headlights are working. I threw a few unnecessary parts at the problem but what the hell, I learned a few things. Thanks for all of your help GP.

If that was the problem I don't know you had power at the light socket..

it's good you got it fixed and came back to let us know what the problem was...and you're not the first or last to throw in a few new parts chasing down a problem

I was surprised I had power at the lights also. The parts guy at o'reilly's told me that the lights can work intermittently as the dimmer switch starts to crap out. He actually jiggled the old dimmer switch and the lights flickered on.
Little bit of a pain to have to drop the steering column to replace the dimmer switch but not bad overall, about a 30 minute job and a 13 dollar part.
Thanks again for your help!

I'm glad it only cost you 13 instead if the bill you would have gotten from the stealership..plus it helps guys when they have the similar problem and I could be one of them..so helping you may end up helping me..it's all good.. 🙂
