ive been driving the car the same as i usually do. were out camping on a "staycation" now about a half hour from home. so a little more highway driving.

i just went out to move the car out of the way of the crazy neighbors. backed up fine, then i pulled forward and got almost where i wanted to be and it stalled out. i go to start it back up and it has a terrible miss. if i stay on the gas, it barely runs and it stalls as soon as i let off.

we just messed with the mech. advance in the dist. so i checked it. springs are on, rotor down tight, all contacts are clean, plug wires on, cap on tight. getting gas to squirt. whats my problem? everything is new as the motor was just put in early this summer. olds 350 by the way. holley carb and hei dist. everything looks right.

kinda freaking out because i have to work tomorrow night. any help is appreciated!

hate to think it, but would sugar or salt in the tank cause this? those people have been doing nothing but bitching about everything we do, so i figured they wouldnt like my exhaust when i went to work this morning...

First thought would be that the float stuck.

could i try tapping the carb with the handle of a screwdriver to see if it would help before i take it off?

Get a little bit of gas and pour some into the carburator when you try to start it. Or spray some starter fluid if you have it. If it starts and runs fine the obviously your problem will be the carb or gas related. Check carburator, linkage, fuel pump, fuel filters, fuel pressure, and all your vacuum lines as well.

Oh and yes, sugar can cause that kind of problem you described.

He said it's squirting fuel in so I don't think lack of fuel would be the problem. Pouring some in may just make it worse or foul his plugs, if they aren't already.

The cars prolly just pissed you pulled the Edelbrock of and put that Holley on there, lol.

What about your ign module? Do you have a good spare to try? just a thought.

if you had a miss like you mentioned then I'd go with Olds suggestion......

but I would think it's the carb since your running a holley....what model holley is it?

i'm not sure exactly, its just a 600 and its actually my buddies.

I'm gonna try messing with it and see what happens, another local member has a few modules he's gonna let me borrow, so ill try that eventually.

we were actually just gonna put the quadrajet on it last weekend, but didn't have the right parts to do it. so i might end up putting it on out here, now that i have the correct fuel line and cable bracket.
