Thanks guys, actually sitting at Gbodyparts.com right now discussing how we attempt to sell. More than likely we will offer shifters, shifters with brackets, shifters with brackets, top plates, etc as a kit.... to the point where a complete Hurst Olds Lightning Rod bucket seat conversion is available. We have many of the pieces such as brackets in the works, and or already made. We have the consoles being in development right now slated for June for test samples.
i know its a bit of a older post, but are these shifters still in the works??

having some issues making them correct for the market and have taken a back seat while we get all the other stuff tied up

i wanted to have those in my car for this summer 🙁

Spoke to "Doc" Watson last weekend at the H/OCA meet about Lightning Rods and why they were no longer in the market, he said "There's a reason they aren't around anymore, they were a nightmare to deal with."
I then told him someone was currently trying to reproduce them and he laughed.

Then I heard from a gentleman at the H/OCA meet that getting the licensing from Hurst is currently an issue as well as GM with anything that has a logo (i.e. tail lights).

I would so love to have these. I would run them on my drag car, but a street driver they would be fun and just plain BA looking. Hope to see some forward progress on these soon. 😀

Licensing from Hurst as well as GM is established and is not an issue. Take it from this horse's mouth that is THE person in charge of getting them reproduced. Have Doc stop by my car which will be at the Oldsmobile Nationals in Cincinnati and have him look at my set, hell have him drive it. Yes, they are a prototype unit that is absolutely dead on. Reason they are not finished???? It is consistency in production runs. I have 10 sets in my basement. Some are perfect....as I have in my car....some are not. This is the ONLY reason I have not ok'd production. And by the way.....3,000 miles on this set of everyday driving and are as clean, strong and work as well as my NOS set!

This message is just to clear the air for people that are looking forward to a reproduced set, and their hope of seeing them out,,,,,has NOT diminished.

And BTW....there is one other set in a members car that belongs to this forum which I have the highest regard as well as his knowledge of quality parts, and items. He proclaims about them as well.

Mike that is Not true at all. Hurst wants to carry these when they are completed. I am the one licensing these. I had sent a proto type out for them to inspect & explained this is not complete. Work needs to be done to fix the old problems.
We did duplicate the rods exact. The problem was they had all the original problems. Lonnie from Extreme automatics & I worked together fixing the D to Neutral problem they had. Everything we touch we try to make exact except where there are known problems.

Tail light emblem samples should be shipping to GM in the next 2-3 weeks. Once again we made sure these were dead on. The samples I recieved I nit picked apart which caused delays. Hurst is not licensing the tail light emblem that wil be GM.

I not sure if your referring to me Toby but I can attest that the set you shipped me is top notch and will be well worth your asking price when you get assembly variation corrected. No issues in build quality from my point of view.

Yes it was you. I was trying to be prudent and if you had an opinion either way you would share with the community. Thanks for your honest opinion and look forward to you having a good experience with them.
