Larry, that is a sweet looking wagon. I'm no expert but if you need any advice on the steering box / pitman arm or the LS swap, that's what I did on my Buick wagon. Good luck and keep posting pics! 🙂 Also, I agree on the GM corporate engine label.. nothing has been marque specific since like 1974

Vandall thanks! definitely will!! Which box did you decide to go with?

I found a thread on the gbody forum and copied them.. Monte SS box and the correct pitman arm:

A-1 CARDONE 276530 steering gear box $115 NAPA
107-176 PITMAN ARM,78-88,BIG POWER,6 7/32" C-C $65 Southwest Speed

Guys, I don't mean to interfere but I think you have a bad part number posted above. Based on the RockAuto website the F41 or SS box is the 27-6550. The regular run of the mill box is the 27-6330. Take a look below. I snipped this from the RockAuto website. I was looking up for an 84 Monte SS, 305.

EDIT: I see what you are referencing, Texas82GP.. the 6530 is without sport package, 6550 is sport package. I will double check what box I actually got from NAPA.

The number I posted is the 27-6530, but I don't know the nuances. I just went in to NAPA and had them look up a Monte Carlo SS box. I can confirm later, but I'm pretty sure that is the part number I referenced.
