At the time ('84-'85) I was attracted to the body style of the A/G-body wagons. To me the style was reminiscent of the mid '60's GM cars, Chevelle, Skylark/ Special, Lemans/GTO. etc.
I figured it would make a cool tow car and hauler for my Porsche. It actually towed it quite well, too. I had an opportunity to hook a tow bar onto it when I blew the engine in the Porsche out in Pennsylvania, approx. 4 hrs from home. It had it's old trusty 305 in it. It later was replaced with a 4-bolt 350 out of a mid-'70's Chevy van. The power difference was like night and day.
At any rate, I've owned my wagon approx. 31-32 yrs now...and I'm now 65 yrs young. I never thought I'd own it this long, but I grew attached to the old gal. As it was my daily driver for many years, I decided to accumulate parts for it and do it over one day. When I worked full time, I just didn't have the time to take it apart to refurb the body, etc. It was when I finally decided I had enough of working everyday, that's when I decided to go over the body, cut out any rust areas, replace panels, etc. I don't regret doing it...it was good therapy.
Money became a little tighter due to the lack of a steady paycheck..
That's basically my story. and I'm sticking to it.
