Greetings Guys; I have to post the Case tractor here, because their are two posted on the bottom of the home page. Too balance the page, green & yellow needs orange! I have down loaded most of the pictured I need to post a for sale thread. If Randy W see this post be be sure to take a look, I should have it up by Monday or sooner. Bob Jr.

So WTF does a tractor have to do with this tread, this is a GBODY FORUM, or did i miss something ?
he is an older gentleman, i think he might of thought he was in a different thread... you know how it is, older people tend to wander off sometimes... lol

Greetings Guys; Skultedmonte84, this thread is titled "in case you need to laugh". So why is it OK to have TWO (2) lawn tractors pictures on the bottom of the home page and not OK to post a picture of mine? I had assumed the guys that running this site would of got a laugh and added mine to the others that were at the bottom of the home page, sorry if I offended you! I also though it was odd to see two lawn tractors on the home page & that's why I put mine in the laugh thread. Yes I seriously did consider posting it for sale. But as of today I have NOT posted it for sale in my VanRah thread. And BPTTONE thank you for the senior moment reason. But in this case I had most of my wits working. And I should comment, "older gentleman", ya older than some, but their would be some debate about the gentleman part. Yes my mind does wonder some, possibly too much LDS (liquid distiled spirits) when I was younger. Bob Jr.

anyone other than me following this??? feel free to chime in with your thoughts on my next question... or any thoughts for that matter...anyways, so after finding out proform 1.6 roller rockers are hit n miss, meaning some people have ran them for 100k and had no issues others dropped a valve a 8k... makes me nervous... thinking if i am offered a good enough deal then i am going to buy these other rockers, forget which they were, either comps or magnums, i dunno, kinda early and my brain isnt on yet. (only half cup of coffee, usually takes two to make me a functioning human)... but heres a question... I WAS OFFERED A BRAND NEW, STILL IN THE BOX HOLLEY 750 FOR $50... i am buying it no matter what, cause i figure if i dont use it, i could sell it... but, IS A HOLLEY 750 GOING TO BE TOO MUCH CARB FOR MY 350??? i planned on going with an edelbrock but then i found a good deal on a new street demon 625 so i plan on going with that, and my motor is freshly built and i dont want to fight to try and dial in a holley while breaking in my motor, and the street demons are pretty much "plug n play"... are holleys really as hard to get dialed in as everyone says and do they really constantly keep needing adjustments??? also, any tips, tricks, etc, for break in would be very appreciated.... i am so scared this motor is going to grenade on start up... BIGGEST FEAR EVER... its probably just my nerves, i know she is well built, and should be fine, i guess its just when you have every penny you have invested plus borrowed a thousand bucks, its VERY nerve racking, something goes wrong now and i am FUCT... but, on a bright side of things, theres this guy mike that lives at the end of my street that drives a sick vette, i borrowed his engine hoist the other day to get my motor off of my truck and when i brought it back i tried giving him $20 and saying thank you, he told me "put that sh*t back in your pocket, if you want to thank me let me help you work on your car, i'm a disabled veteran, so i cant work, and working on cars is what i love"... so i now have an extra set of hands, he is going to help me swap my engines and then i am going to help him drop a 350 in his sons camaro... AS MUCH AS I WILL LOVE HAVING AN EXTRA SET OF HANDS HELPING ME, IT SKEEVES ME OUT KNOWING SOMEONE ELSE IS GOING TO BE WRENCHING ON MY CAR.... IF I COULD CLONE MYSELF I WOULD, BUT WE WOULD PROBABLY KILL EACH OTHER... LOL... SO THATS WHERE I'M AT...

This is NO LAUGHing mater

Greetings BPTTONE & all; So you are a little nervous about starting up your new baby. Find an old distributor, take the gear off, everything under & including the rotor, buy a shaft collar and make a primer. Then prime that new baby for 10-15 minutes, turning it over 90* every 2.5 minutes minimum. That's how I was taught, 15 minutes and the cost was built into the assembly price. Please be sure to use HI zinc, NON synthetic for the first 500 miles. Get the timing as close as you can before you fire it. With light hooked up lite the fire & go right to 2000 RPM for 20 minutes. The last 10 minutes you can start to very the RPM between 1500 & 2500, then go ahead and pull your 3000 to total time it. Since you are worried about the rockers pull the valve covers, rockers & inspect them. If they are OK re lube the push rod socket & roller with more brake in lube - re install. I hate to get into the carb here as I think the forum has a lot on Holley vs ?????. To put CFM in perspective GM put 780's on 302"-290HP?, 350"-360-370HP, were they over carburetored? If the Holley is a 3310V, use it. On the other hand if it's a double pumper, I'd pass. If you want help with start up jetting, please post cam specs, intake runner (heads) & combustion chamber cc's, bore (4.030"?), piston valve reliefs cc's. My best guess along with 10 other guys should get you close, you can average our response! Hope this helps, but Please prime it, Bob Jr.

I think the biggest issue with 1.6 rockers is the tendency for the pushrod to hit the head. Its hard to see and often the markings found are attributed to the failure when in fact they caused the failure. As for the Proform rollers we used them on the stock cars and had some failures, none that led to engine damage, just worn out. Of course these were engines running 6700 to 7400 sustained RPM, high lift long duration cams and high nose pressure on the springs.

Really once you get to the point of using full roller rockers you need to start keeping a closer eye on your engine. Just backing off your lash adjusters and feeling the rockers motion will tell you if there is an issue, then just re adjust. Once you get the hang of it it's simple, heck every oil change for a sunny day cruiser shouldn't be too inconvenient once or twice a year. It would be a little more inconvenient on a year round daily driver though but still not terrible.
The Comp Cams Magnum(1416-16, 1418-16 roller tip rockers on the other hand I would set and forget. Though with them you don't get the benefit of the pivot bearing.
As for the Holley carb as long as it's a vacuum secondary you should be fine. They don't need constant adjustment either. Many cars and trucks came from the factory with them.

THANKS GUYS... so i started to pull my old motor apart, curious as to what was making so much noise... havent torn into the bottom half yet but the heads looked fine, but one of the pistons seems to have been hitting the head... not sure what the bottom end holds, i'll get around to digging into it soon...
