well, my transmission is fairly well FUCT... 2nd gear slips like a ****... all other gears work perfect, kicks down from od with no problem... i tried to re-adjust the tv cable to no avail... i am going to start saving my pennies and hopefully be able to buy a level 2 from bowtie overdrives within a month... was told its probably just the second gear band, but i know nothing about transmissions so i am going to buy a new one and have an expert install it so its covered... and then just try my hand at fixing the old one...

Go on Ebay and pick up an instructional DVD for your transmission. I knew ZERO about rebuilding transmissions when I did my TH400. It's not as hard as you think. I will say this, get a decent lip seal tool. 😀

just ordered the transtec lip seal tool, an instructional dvd, and a book... thanks for the heads up on the tool...

You know you can use a small sharp punch an 1 or 2 screws to take that seal out,it's pretty easy to do,iv done it more than i few times even works on rear main seals.Just punch a small hole in the seal being careful not to go to far in,thread a screw in it "just enough to were it catches" an then use some pliers to grab the screw an pull it out sometime it takes 2 screws

Yeah, sounds easy enough, but i dont even know where thats located... i wouldnt know how to get to it... gonna see if i can find simple step by step instructions on how to replace the 2nd gear band... and any thoughts on which one to replace it with? i heard the kevlar ones tend to slip n pit a little more than the others

No idea on changing a gear band, never done that,i am sure it's not that hard though,i may be wrong.

The answer will be found in a manual...I prefer a manual over a dvd cause it allows you to study what you need to do and you work at your speed, not the dvd's

I CANT BELIEVE MY LUCK... So, my boss, who is a really good person, use to have a drinking problem, got a dui, then a driving under suspension... well, he has now been clean n sober for 6 months, but he just got sentenced to 30 days in jail for his driving arrests... now, i had gone through the system quite a few times growing up, so i basically explained what to expect... he had tons of questions... also, helped him get everything in order with his company, and since i am the only other person that knows how he runs things day to day, i will be fillng in for him... now to the lucky part... right before he left, he paid me for the time i had worked, PLUS GAVE ME A PERSONAL CHECK FOR $1,000 AND SAID "THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING, I DONT KNOW WHAT I WOULD OF DONE IF YOU WERENT AROUND"... finally appreciated, i brake my back for that company and its nice to know im appreciated... BUT ANYWAYS, BOWTIE OVERDRIVES HERE I COME.... that $1000 puts me past what i need for a level 2....

It's nice to be recognized but doubly nice when a check comes with it! Sounds like a decent boss.

And your project is coming along well. Something special happens when we add blood, sweat and tears to our cars.
