Is hoarding a bad thing?

2 years we sold off 18-20 wheels/tires, then we through out another dozen - that left us with 30-40 tires and wheels.

Fortunately my son took the wheel spacers/adapters when he moved - I think there $200 worth billet aluminum in those boxes.
I can count 23 right now and 20 are on vehicles or my trailer... yea that's too much stuff you have there..🤣

I have a bad habit of letting my garage get way out of shape/messy. I usually end spending a week, once a year, cleaning and sorting. That includes throwing some stuff out. We used to have a garage party once a year, that was my impetus to get it done. Haven't had one in a few years and the shop had become a disaster zone. Got it pretty much under control again as 64nailhead can testify.
I've finally come to the conclusion that if I move the same item two years in a row, and still haven't used it, it needs to go. There are a few exceptions to that rule, but not many. Has helped my hoarding issues quite a bit.

This pic was taken June of 2019 when I bought my house, if I took the same pic right now the cabinet on the wall to the left of the Corvette is gone and the storm door I pulled off the hinges. Other than that, looks identical. Hence the OCD haha. Stuff is on shelves, in cabinets, and on a shelf I built behind my SS. Hedges trimmed up better too haha. Wires hanging down in the back are from the Sub of my surround system I have installed in this garage, at the time I just had it on the shelf.

All my spare parts have a spot and stay there. Tools definitely have their place and use. May not use them, but definitely keep. I haven't used my engine stand or engine hoist in over 3 years, but definitely not selling that. They are in my shed tucked out of the way. Common use stuff is in the garage. Once stuff gets in an organized spot and it flows well, it tends to stay there.

But yea, it's what you add to that..

Built6spdMCSS very nice! And I mean that.

But I can’t leave anything alone, and there’s always the push to get to the next one that I’m gathering parts for. I’ve gotten hung up on the MC only because………….faster.

Some day I’ll give up on it, just hoping that day comes later than sooner. And until then I’m going to Frank Lloyd Wright my workspace

‘Less is more’ 😉 😉 😉

I'm to the point I like driving them more than working on them so the objective is keep whole & drive. Change oil and normal maintenance. Yea stuff tears up hence the T56 parts, as well as my box full of LS Engine Sensors, but I keep the clutter to a minimum so I have room to work.

That has happened too. Master Cyl Replacement on my Z06 was a 2 week project..

Then the Spring mods on my SS..

Definitely would love a shop with a lift, want that at my permanent house tho.

Depends on what you are hoarding to deterime if its ok or not. Anymore its not bad to hoard replacement parts for old cars as you never know what will be discontinued next.

I was just on Bendpak's site, they make a 2 post that fits a 9' roof. But you won't be standing up straight under it.

I guess we can assume that your wife makes sure to either not allow you to carry her anywhere, and/or makes sure to engage in relations more than just on the anniversary.... otherwise..... watch out!!! 😵
