Is hoarding a bad thing?

My garage is 24x24. Considering that my son and I have built 6 or 7 cars in this garage and have 3 more projects (some very disassembled) around the property I know that it appears like we are hoarders.

Currently I’m in the process of re-assembling one of his projects that has the interior gutted (parts around the basement, shed and general vicinity of my property haha), I decided that I wanted to relocate a piece of pegboard from one end of the garage to a side of the garage. So I had to empty the 64”x36” piece of pegboard that has been here prior to starting all of the projects. I can safely say that removing all of the tools, parts and misc stuff from the pegboard made me feel like I might, just maybe a ‘might’, be considered a hoarder by some.

Here is a pic of the empty pegboard :

Doesn’t look that bad eh?

Here’s what was on it :

I found things that I forgot I had. Spare turbo flanges I found on sale - everyone should have 4 spares T4 and a T3 flange, 200-4R shift shaft linkages, of course a spare v-belt (or 20) for test fitment purposes except half of them are new, carb parts (wow I must’ve been high on life back then to save any of that), 280z intake and exhaust gaskets, some minor John Deere parts, and more budget engine and body tools than I remember buying. My favorite is the 14 spare LS head gaskets that are ‘re-usable in a pinch’.

Jesus, I am a hoarder lol.

I should take some pics of ‘my half’ of the basement, the shed, and the sunroom. But if I did that, then that would confirm that my wife isn’t wrong. Hoods, fenders, seats, turbos, complete rears, doors, inner fenders, and of course some motors (6 on stands) and transmissions (3), misc piping, ignition, more carbs (????), etc.

Am I a hoarder?

p.s. I have 5 engines at work……but only one transmission (smh)
Believe me. You are just collecting a for a rainy day or maybe help a car friend out.
Hoarding is when have the wife ask you to move some things that you forgot you had put there but knew you have it somewhere.
Plus 3 garages, a 40x60 barn at 3 floors, an acre and a half of cars and parts. Plus 15 acres of cars including 45’ trailers for parts. Plus the 2 acres at the repair shop. And that house has 3 bedrooms about 13x12 each room full.
So you’re good. After you tell the wife that could be you 😏

Sounds like someone I need to convince to adopt me.

I have a 2 stall garage and have resorted to hanging things from the ceiling

Storing cars and parts at family member's places
I have a garden shed full of wheels and tires
Stuff bleeds into the basement

No, hoarding is not a bad thing!!!

You don't have too much crap, you just need more room for all your crap. Most every inch of overhead space in my wee 20x20 garage is all shelving. Since I got the hangar though, the shelves aren't slammed full of crap. Yet.

I really hope that's a selling point when it's time to unload the house. Basements aren't standard here.

Throw a couple coats of paint on it she will love it. The guy will love the storage!
