It followed me home ( 87 SS Monte )

Been rockin' since 10AM on the 86 parts car strip down. I'm shooting for the body to be lifted off chassis by this evening. Being under this 86, I'm amazed at the condition of the chassis. It does not look like it's been ran into ditches or jumped over bridges 😵. I may use this chassis under my 87. I want the best of everything here on the 87. It's also cleaner than the grease covered 87s chassis.

It is ready to lift off the chassis except for the rear bumper cover. I'm going to Lowes tomorrow for some 4x4" posts and cement blocks. Engine is also ready to be lifted out. I pulled my front coil springs while the engine weight was still there. I used a brick on each side for a spacer. That way it's not completely on bump stops and harder to roll. I removed the front bumper, shocks, F41 bars, and sway bar. I also looped my power steering hose on the box so it does not get contaminated. I don't know what headers those are but they suck. Someone cut off the collectors and welded the pipe directly. Had to sawzall the pipes off. Someone used allen socket cap bolts for the attachment to the head. One had to be vise gripped out and 4 of them I had to cut off some of an allen wrench to get in there. Bolts went in the trash. I will use hex head bolts. No body mounts broke and the majority of them are in great shape. Between the three sets of body mounts and bolts, I'm going to use the best with anti seize for the 85. Not going to buy new body mounts and bolts for a car I'm just going to sell. I would have kept going but later in the afternoon, the sun gets on the side of my car port leaving me directly in the sun. I'm sunburned already.

Got the mothers day stuff done early. Wife went to her mothers and will probably be gone most of the day. Soooo, I guess I'll work on my Monte . Going to order some chassis parts tomorrow. Getting drilled and slotted rotors, Energy sway bar mounts and end links, shocks, and brake pads. Wanting to have the chassis painted and assembled by next weekend to set the body

I washed a bunch of dirt and crud off the chassis but going to degrease and power wash tomorrow. Then a thorough knotted cup brush on my grinder. Was tricky doing the body lift myself but I got it done. Luckily I had some wheel dollys

Got my power washer I've owned since 1997 out of my shed. Cleaned the plug and drained the tank. I put in fresh gas and it fired up. Got the chassis and 2004R trans washed. Waiting on the chassis to dry so I can start on the cup brushing

I made it as far as I could with my knotted cup brush. I got most of the top and sides but the brush lost almost all its wires. I was black from head to toe. I just threw away my shirt and jeans because the heavy grease was flinging directly on me. Still got some heavy grease spots I'm going to degrease and hand brush. Chassis is pretty stripped but still have to remove rear impact shocks and the rear end. Looks like I'll have to use my portable sand blaster on the hard to reach areas. Street Outlaws is on tonight so came in for a shower and dinner

Got in from work and my parts were here. Woohoo. Got a TCI convertor lock up switch and shift kit for the 2004R and some chassis stuff

Got the bent chassis out from under the buildable 85's body. Got it around front and under the rusty parts car 86. Need to lower it down onto the chassis but we got one hell of a storm coming with possible tornadoes. I'm worried about the 85 up on blocks and boards in the back yard with heavy wind tonight. Hopefully it stays put.

Looks pretty good so far, but that frame will need a repair washer welded on the driver side mount #2.
