Jeep Question

I seafomed the gas, oil and intake and it runs much better now but still rough. I noticed I have one fuel injector leaking. I know very little about injectors, do you think that it could be just the o ring or can it be the injector itself leaking.

More often than not it is the o-ring, although I often just replace the whole injector if they aren't too expensive.

found the problem, rocker came and the lifter is jammed in place. Now to search for another Jeep or run this one down a cylinder,....sorry to waste your time and I really do appreciate all your help. I can't figure out being down a cylinder why that didn't throw a code

That really sucks Steve. I hope you can find something soon. Would it be cheaper to replace the engine? or are jeeps cheap enough to make it worth getting another?

I wouldn't drive it and take the chance being stranded.

The trailblazer/envoy trucks would make a solid replacement.

I only paid $400 for this Jeep so it's questionable to do a motor swap or change a head. It ran great since I bought it in the summer but from what I read it was an unlucky position where the lifter was sitting when the engine stopped. These engines are bad for carbon so the lifter can get stuck starting it and it'll throw the rocker. The scrap prices are way down so I might pick up a head and replace it sometime. Right now I have to get something immediately so I can get my GP off the road. The prices of Jeeps around here are from real low to ridiculous high. I don't like to spend much money on a winter ride so if I does come up with a problem like this I'm not losing sleep over it.

No problem Steve. Not a waste of my time at all. Glad you found the cause. I'm really fond of those jeeps so I can't bring myself to recommend junking it. It is surprising that the engine didn't throw a code for a misfire. I guess the valve was stuck in the closed position? Was it an exhaust or intake valve? Best of luck finding another winter vehicle. I'm sure you'll be able to come up with something.

It's the intake valve. I just about got everything back together but I lost 1 of the clips for the injectors. I plan to drive it on 7 cylinders till I find another Jeep and if I don't have any other issues with this one I'll fix it when I have time. When I do find another Jeep the fitst thing on the list is to seafoam the heck out of it to clean out the carbon

as far as no code with a cylinder down I think the computer has some issues. My scanner and do live data and a few other things but it won't work on this Jeep. It's says the mode isn't present. I can pick up codes on my odometer but the scanner won't pick them up or erase them cause it can't see them. The scanner works perfectly on other vehicles.
