It's just advertising, and to show off the manufacturers of the parts that paid Jegs to have their products showcased. They picked a car that wasn't a basket case, cross-compatible with other makes and models, and would be able to accept their entire catalog of merchandise! Will it be riveting video to watch? To some maybe...and in the "perfect" sterile conditions of TV-Land...look what can be accomplished in 5 days with full warehouse of parts and a team of mechanics at your disposal!

I speed watched the day-1 video to see the rack and pinion install but it was already in. I'm thinking the Monte has had a lot of preparation before it was ever put on the lift.

Not to mention I didn't find any G-body rack and pinion kits on the Jegs website so they would have had to adapt a kit from another series to install it in the first place.

I estimated over $20K just in parts in the other thread from a few weeks back and I didn't know they were converting to rack/pinion or going with 13" rear brakes. They went with a 9", what's wrong with the explorer brakes everyone uses.

It doesn't fit in with the plan to sell you the parts you have seen on tv(or somewhere) and now NEED them. It is like the places that sell you a 10/13 vane pump kit to "upgrade" your pump in the trans. If they aren't selling you something, they ain't stackin' cash.

I get the plan and see how it works(been done a "couple" times on several shows on "reality" tv). But I just don't have the desire(or income) to just write checks(put it on the plastic) and bolt it together. In my mind hot rodding is all about using the stuff you hunt up, be it wrecking yard, used on craig's list or other, or some stuff your buddies bought but upgraded from and gave to you to get it out of their ultra clean garage. Then go out and take that money(pride) from the checkbook hot rodder. Cubic money generally wins but the little guy can build a pretty snazzy ride with what he can acquire.
