A computer-controlled, overdrive trans capable of handling the SBC's power
so a stock 4l80? a 6l80 would be a little more along the lines of the rest of the build...

considering the 4l60 cant even stand up to a stock ls1 in a 4th gen fbody. Trucks eat them all the time with 4.8/5.3's...

The 4L60E is strong enough for the SBC that they're using in the build, and cheaper than a 4L80E or 6L80E.

Some people on this wonderful site are starting to sound like the other muscle car snobs. Junkyards theses days have been purged of the majority of the older makes and models, so buying new aftermarket stuff is pretty much a requirement to stay roadworthy . Either you buy something new with a warranty and be judged for spending the cash that you worked for, or you jerry-rig something to make it work and be judged for the shoddy craftsmanship. Can we just be glad that G-bodies are finally garnering attention from the major aftermarket companies?

I'm all for new stuff. I literally bought a 383 from blueprint engines and an UMI suspension kit and those two things alone, were about 6k. I don't have a problem with anything they are doing, but it does seem like they are going to have 30k tied up in engine, trans, suspension, and the rear end. That's a lot of money for that level of performance even with new parts. That's a lot of money for a vehicle that objectively won't achieve any faster times in autocross, figure 8, or 1/4.

I would absolutely purchase a Schwartz G-Body chassis, fully built, and throw in a crate LS motor. But then we're talking about a new vehicle...entirely. I appreciate that these parts exists, I really do. It makes it easier to find them on the used market when people sell them for 75% off.

That is some funny right there. After they spent five digits on the rest of the build., More likely they got it from one of their suppliers on the cheap.

I guess I can sound like a snob. And i just don't understand. As above, I guess I am glad someone buys the stuff. Just have em "stay off my lawn".😀

At least it is an SBC build.

I've got a few 4L60Es in different vehicles. The failure stories are as overblown as the LT1's Opti failure stories; I have a few LT1s too.

there is no need to worry, if the car ever sees the road it'll probably be for a few pictures of smoking tires...

You won't like the attention when the prices keep climbing....

If it means more aftermarket support, yes I will. It also means mine should be worth more down the road and everyone else's car too. I look to these becoming just as popular as the A-bodies, just like every generation of cars before, it's inevitable. Only thing is Cash for Clunkers depleted a lot of them and others.

I'm confused by the aftermarket support. About the only things you can't get are certain body patches and trim items. I think the current product selection is pretty darned good.
