stupid question but what benefits do you get from these? is it due to control arm mount flexing and this eliminates it?
 
Yes, I've read the gbody ears sometimes can be broken or bent, so I bought these to weld in for additional help since the frame is exposed... I'll have between 400-450 hp in the motor so thought it would be good... Probably overkill but.....

If you have enough power and traction you can tear the stock mounts off. I just used some 14 gauge metal to strengthen mine and welded on 1" 14 gauge washers at the holes

I've got them on mine too, uppers and lowers. Cheap insurance.
 
Look's like you're going about it the right way. As for the welds...practice makes perfect.
Looking good so far.
