Kevlar v belts

Like a wobble?
Kind of like a slight wobble. I installed the pulley years ago when I first started working on cars. I'd assume you want to install the water pump pulley in a cross pattern.

It does look to have a very slight wobble when spun by hand. I haven't replaced it, it may be original...

Are you sure it's the pulley itself wobbling or could it be the water pump?

Assuming this is a SBC and you are throwing the alternator/water pump belt can you see marks on the edge or sides of any of the pulleys that would be caused by the belt rolling off?
No noticeable marks on the pulleys. Yes it is a sbc and is the alt/water pump belt. I'm running Autozone v belts. I will get a new pulley on the water pump and try that along with a new belt. What vbelts do you recommend?

I
The US made Gates belts are well made but the new belts stretch a lot. I find they need tightened 3 or 4 times. Check your alignment, my car threw belts till I aligned the pulleys, they were out, I used a straight edge. Dayco makes a laser alignment tool and their US made belts are also decent.
agree that the belts stretch a lot. I'm going to toss a new water pump pulley on there just because I haven't replaced it so it won't hurt regardless.

The last auto zone water pump I bought was warped out of the box.....and failed quick

It would be worth the extra $$ to get a quality pump and pulley. Most oreilly's have edelbrock pumps and pulleys in stock, you just have to ask.

Or you could order one from summit or jegs...just make sure you get the short or long neck depending on what you have. Get an aluminum, or new steel pulley to match along with dayco or gates belts.

That's one of the reasons i bought the march setup for my sbc. Yes it was pricey, but I've yet to have a belt squeak or get tossed. I use goodyear gatorback serp belts.

Don't get a cogged belt. Get a... smooth one. Grips better. Doesn't stretch.

if you have a sbc why not just convert to a early 90's serpentine belt set up there cheap and plentiful and effective, you would need the reverse rotation water pump for this set up but they're readily available also. I like this setup so much I have some adapter plates so I can run this set up on my olds big block in my cutlass
