I would love to go serpentine just not in the budget at this time. I just re did the whole interior and I'm wrapping it up as we speak.

I'm going to get a new water pump, pulley and gates or dayco belt today from jegs.

Would you guys recommend going with a high flow water pump or just find a regular one with good reviews from jegs?

I would recommend the high flow pump if your motor is built that way it can get the coolant in and out quicker. If its stock, then a standard flow pump would be fine. I don't think the price is much more if at all for the high flow pump.

Note.....read the reviews on all of them. I've had my weiand high flow pump since '03ish without any issues. However, once i get a fresh engine built i will put a new pump on it just for peace of mind.

I would also get a high flow water pump, any cooling upgrades you do now will help put you ahead of the game if you add power later.

do you have the right angle for the v belt and are the pulleys worn out?

hate to say I told you so but I did say your speedo problem wouldn't be the last one....😛

I have a built motor, nothing crazy but aluminum heads, 3000 stall 670 street avenger. About 300 to the wheels last time I had it on the dyno. I will go with a high flow pump..

Are most of the aftermarket pulleys for the water pump set up for a 10mm belt or .4 inches?

My local jegs can order gates belts but the ones they have are the ribbed vbelts. Should I just order one directly from them so I can get a solid vbelt?

I want this to be the last time having to deal with this I don't take overheating lightly lol . Thanks for the help I love this forum

I like to get my belts locally since all of mine I have to fit to the brackets I made so I always buy the exact length I think I need and then also buy one oversize and one undersize so I can dial in the belt to where I want it and then return the two belts I don't use.

I know it's a never ending process! The water pump pulley is about the only thing I have not replaced on the motor. Belt was brand new. As far as angle I'm not sure but I think it is correct my pulleys are aligned well though. I believe my root is the slight wobble on the water pump pulley.

Go to a tractor or farm equipment store and find the correct length belt. It's stupid, but none of the sits (Jegs, summit, etc) or auto stores carry non ribbed belts. If your pulleys are marginally straight, you'll never throw a belt again with a smooth vbelt. I went through 5 cogged belts before I said screw it went to a farm supply store and got a smooth belt. Any place that sells/fixes heavy machinery or lawn equipment will have the right belt. I think it needs to be at least 10mm or 1/2 wide, then the length you need.

I don't want to spend a lot on a water pump, under $100 and I I want to keep it mechanical and high flow. How do I I have a short pump and with a stock v belt setup I need a clockwise pump correct? I also see two different pilot diameters. How do I know what pilot size I need?

I found this pump, opinions?

My pulley on my pump now is a single groove only one vbelt running it on my setup and I found this pump. Would these be a good combination?
