I'm partial to the sound of an x myself, but it depends on the motor. On my C5 Z06 going from factory h to aftermarket x was night and day, WOT is a lot more shrill while cruising is still mild. I should concede that the x came with long tubes as well, so not quite apples and oranges.

I love the sound of the x-pipe in my wagon.

The weight of the driveline compressed it to that height? How does it rode and what are you doing for shocks?

Ride is great but like any big block car dont expect to take turns at 90mph

Dont say that I can agree 100 % with that Turna.
With the aluminum heads and a few other weight reductions my Monte handles pretty darn good.
Theres a set of five corners on a slight uphill grade that I like to call my "Test Corners" on the way out to my buddy's shop.
I can go in at well over the speed limit and accelerate all the way to the end.
But then too mine has the suspension set up for better handling than stock 😎

I would have gone the cheap fuel route myself, 3/8" line is plenty. My 3500 has a supercharged 454 and all I did was drop in a 340lph pump, didn't even bother running a relay and bigger wire. It'll blow the fuse before it smokes the wire and it hasn't yet blown the fuse, pump pulls something like 13A off of a 15A fuse IIRC.

Just my 0.02 cents worth, but if I were building a 489 CI BBC,I would use a bigger set of heads than the 265's.
The 305 version would be my first choice.
I have the fully CNC'd 315's on my 513.
Works real nice !!
