There are some nice GP's on here. I cannot belive these cars are not more popular. The failed marketing of this car should have been an early indication of the problems at Pontiac.
The 81-87's have the classic coke bottle shape like no other car, except maybe the 70 Cuda. Allot of angles, and agressive proportions. The car is one of the most sculpted of the G's. But what do they do...
1. No performance model (except the one year 2+2, where the changed everything and ruined the coke bottle shape).
2. Way over-optioned the majority of them. Landau tops and chrome are not supposed to be on performance cars (do not get me wrong they look good on the cars, I just mean they were not on the performance G's - GN MCSS - 442).
3. No distinctive perfomance options (of course no turbo, but how about a stock 350 or Poncho motor, or an 8.5, or keep the stick shift from the 78-80's)
I go to a couple of small car shows a week and ussually try to go to a bigger show whenever I can, and I have never seen another G-GP at a show. Granted there are not allot of G's at all, but no GP's like mine. I have seen 2 78's-80's but they were both chromed, landaued stockers - very very nice cars, but not my taste (wish I took a camera). The bright side is my car is always the nicest G-GP there, but I would actually like 2nd place once.
I stick be my idea for my car. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A 20th Anniversarry GTO, based on the GP. How do you think them wudda sold?
