Maple Grove is my "local" track, about 45 minutes away, but I have about 8 dragstrips 2.5 hours away. I don't race at Maple Grove as much because they drag the program along too much. Great people that help run the facility but Cecil County is my go to now about 30 minutes farther away. They run the program quickly and I like that. Not much down time. Right now up around here index racing is the new deal that's gaining stupid popularity, and pro dial.

When it comes to all the divisional and national event bullshit I'll never compete in that. I want to eventually have a car setup to run Super Street for the series Rob Keister has setup for the .90 stuff around here. I just have no desire to waste my time and money on all the bullshit that adds up. Right now I have a street/strip car that I run Street and Pro with and the occasional 12.50 index at Maple Grove

The problem with drag racing is the throttle stops in the sportsman classes.
Good the so called "super" classes suck to watch

Yes, those throttle stop, launch control & timed shift cars are french fry cars. If you want an electrically controlled racer it would be cheaper just to see Brittany Force's sponsors ! The only controller needed is the driver. Thats more fun than eating the french frys !

Chris, don't think that bracket or foot bake racing will eliminate any of that. I guess you would consider mine a French fry but I don't break any rules entering a race.

I like a lot of different Motorsports, but i have been a Drag Racer for almost 30 years. Never in a Quote NHRA Pro class, but ive Bracket raced, Indexed Raced, and Raced Heads up in a few different cars over the years. I agree with you guys about the throttle stopped(french fry) haha classes, i cant even watch them, I dont even like Delay boxes, but i get it, them guys need it to compete to win. Me, I just race for Fun, thats why i started Racing a old Willys, I Race mostly Nostalgia Drag race events, laid back and fun, No electronics, I personally dont even run a Trans Brake,
Just give it my best, and see what happens! Sometimes we make it seem like we know what were doing!
you Maple Grove guys, we, when i say "we" i mean my crew and I, Like Maple Grove a lot ,I try to get down there at least once a season,
In fact my last "Win" was down there in 2011, ive been to a the semis a couple of times more recently but no "W"
Last Year i sat out Racing, (spending money on my Malibu haha) well i did try to go once near the end of the year but broke, its fixed now, Hope to get out next year

Maple Grove win

Yo lilbowtie, what I meant by french fry cars is when those electronic controlled cars run its time to go to the food stand for some french fry's. Thats what french fry cars are all about. Ask abadwillys he will tell you the same thing. Ha, Ha !!

I here you, the car may look plain jane but there is a lot in it. I can run box - no box, top, bottom bulb or foot brake. Can shift myself, on time, or rpm and have a controlled throttle. Check this set-up for foot brake - brake pressure activates a switch that controls trans brake, line lock, and throttle. Foot to the floor the launch rpm is set and when the brake pedal is released trans brake and line lock release and air throttle goes wot.
