Run! That's a P.O.S.

Might be worth it at $2000. Go do a search on eBay for recently sold vehicles. A pretty clean 85 or 86 442 just sold on there for not much over $5K.

Unless you're a great body man stay away from rust. It's expensive to deal with if you have to pay someone and HUGE time suck to do repair it yourself. Save yourself the time and hassle and pay a couple grand more for a clean car. You can get something much cleaner and nicer for just a grand or 2 more...

That's a frame off resto.

It looks like an expensive restoration to me. You're better off finding a cleaner example and paying a bit more....or if you can get this car cheap enough. Somehow i don't think that's going to happen. He's probably fixed on the fact that it's a Hurst Olds.
Overall it does look original. But, it's also an upstate NY car, which to me equates to rust.

Thanks for all the help guys. To be honest i just happen to see it and thought the 83's with the lighting rods was fairly uncommon and sorta rare, and thought the price was a tad high not not crazy like other prices i have seen for other cars in similiar shape. Im also the kind of guy who would just drive it and not restore it lol. Just drive it as is and have fun with it, not worry about door dings and scratches, and sell it as it or maybe try and restore it in a few years.

Simple logic is = If your looking for a PROJECT and plan to do most of the work yourself, I think it's a great project to save. If you plan on farming out the metal work, body, paint, and mechanical work, I'd pay more money for a nice one. It's a perfect project car for me but I do just about all the work myself. It is a low production car and the hard to find parts are there. The biggest thing for me about it is the originality.

That's the thing. If you can get the car for the right price and are able to do the lion share of the work yourself, then maybe it would be worth it. I do like the fact that it's an original car that's been neglected. It would make a cool driver while it's undergoing a casual resto.
It's the rust that bothers me, and we all know how it can manifest in areas that are unseen until you start delving into it.
