If I'm not mistaken, the '83 model not only doesn't have an 8.5 rear, but it doesn't have an overdrive trans...probably a 3-spd with a lockup converter like an '83 Monte SS.

no, they have the 200-4r auto with overdrive. that is what the lightning rod shifter is for. but you are right about the rear axle. only came with a 7.5" rear.

I spent too many years up north, before moving down south... I'm of two minds on that car.

The rust belt me says that isn't bad. It also supposedly was a virginia car, which is better than the northeast.

Southern me says too many busted knuckles on that crusty underside. I bet it needs full brake and fuel lines... heck fuel system front to back.

I think it's be a cool car to put a flat clearcoat over the patina, get running reliably, and drive it as it is.

84 was 8.5 I believe. An 83 or 84 is on my list of needed G bodys for me. Also want a 79 or 80 Hurst olds

Noted. If its a nice one will you paint the jams, too?

I was up in Maine last fall and there was a rust free '79 HO I was going to look at, but my wife came with so that was not going to happen.

If I'm buying something to swap for a paint job on a car I already own, my wife will probably let me buy it.

Go to Goodguys and then Pate. There was a rust free/complete running '84 HO at Pate last spring and cash would have talked.

Ill be at both. I registered for Good guys the other day so ill be there in the Wagon. Also plan on going to pate.
