No offence taken. Just thought that pic of Capt. Picard was funny the other day.
I hope you don't get washed out by the storm.
Well...unless the dam breaks, we shouldnt have any flooding...lol. We mostly get a lot of wind damage here because we have a lot of tall trees that are 75-100 yrs old. If it moves quickly, we wont have much to worry about, but if she stalls over us, it could be bad. We'll just have to wait and see.... Thanks!

Well keep that row boat on the back porch anyway, just in case.

Splined ball joints should be presses in off the car with a good bearing press. We are talking about 2 whole bolts to get them off. The "on car press" is fine for nonsplined joints. I have bought joints that slid in by hand before and returned them. That was the last time I bought anything but Moog. The BFH is not something I would suggest, heating and freezing is though, with a press. BFH is for last option removal and straightening damage. Not for installation. IMO! I have a 3lbs short handled sledge with a V end on one side. Could not live with out it. I have BFHs up to 20lbs, up to 6 foot cheater bars, big crow bars and huge spud bars, grinders, cut off wheels, body files, even 24" adjustable wrenches, double stacking box/open end wrenches to make them longer, plus the HOT wrench(acetylene torch), but all that stuff is for stubborn removal. Not problem solved installation. They didn't use this stuff when it was new to put it together. Parts can bend and break.

As for the ball joints if you are doing them yourself why not replace the bushings also. It really isn't that much more. Peace of mind and not doing it twice is worth the extra coast. You will need to call around for a reasonable price to have someone else press them off if you can't. Some shops over toked the bong and stubble to the phone after they hit there head on the lift, with the prices. 20 to 40 buck is well with in reason to swap both side. I was at my brothers house over an hour way from here and needed a pinion bearing pressed of and new on. The time and gas money would have been just a bit much to drive back and forth to use my 20ton bearing press. I called a couple places and they wanted 50 bucks to $100. Come on it is 1 bearing. It should takes 5 mins, 15 mins if your a retard, to press them off and on with a good press and torch. I got it done for $14 at the NAPA.

All that said I have had some very hard to remove bushings and had to cut them out. Sometimes it is just a **** to remove them.

Funny how I get more accomplished when beer is present

This obviously didn't work last time.

After pissing around with this thing longer than I care to admit, the initial installation cut splines into the a-arm at an angle; Hence the balljoint wouldn't go in straight no matter what i did. Pissing in the wind for the most part...
I got out the dremel and smoothed out the grooves in the a-arm.

So I went and bought the chinesium HF kit since it was about a 3rd of the price of anything at an auto parts store.

Quit playing games and applied 120psi to the 1/2" drive impact

Oh, the number of times I've been there. Usually I express my contempt in words which I shall not utter here.

I've been making a conscious effort to help the clean-up process around here too.
