So far it was worth every penny, and my painter keeps inquiring about it so its looking like I may be able to work out a deal with my painter for some $ off the body/paint work in exchange for the rotisserie and I will still have access to it should I ever need it again.

Thanks again for the side view mirror help, I picked up a set last week and they look correct just have to get a chance to bolt them to the doors and double check. The 86+ pedestals are defiantly shorter.

I'm glad to hear that you were able to find another set of mirrors. Sorry I was unable to help you.

Doing a deal with your painter for the rotisserie might be good move, especially if you don't plan to use it again.

Body shop has the underside scuffed should be coated this week with the bed liner material.

More progress on the hood, have to grind the welds and touch up any pin holes.

I decided to stay with the GN hood liner so we are adding in supports for it so the push pin retainers mount to the hood through the factory holes in the hood liner instead of the old way which was putting holes in the liner to match the factory holes in the hood as you can see in the pic of the old liner. The OEM Turbo hood liners are not cheap so I was not going to kill the new one I have for the wagon by punching holes in it.

The car is coming along nicely, Ed.
The hood is going to look killer on there.

Thanks Jack.

I picked up a set of NOS fenders this weekend locally. Instead of paying the body shop to save mine I decided buy the new ones. I have been debating installing some type of functional fender vent to help dissipate under hood heat it gets cooking under there with the turbo heat. Usually in the summer I'll pull the cowl weatherstrip off to help it flow the hot air out but I have to remember to put it back on when its going to rain etc... Vents would help with that, I like what SRD art did here on post #15 http://www.pro-touring.com/showthread.p ... ery-getter
you can see them on the car page 26 post #501 Just not sure how my plain white wagon would look, I'm just planning to run my factory style suspension 1" lower but no big wheels and tires etc... for the time being so I think that fender vent look would look a bit off for what I will have day one. I would like to do a pro-touring setup at some point but not now maybe in 5 years or so as a phase 2 to the car. So basically I do not want to install vent just to install a vent I want it to look good on the car and not out of place. That pretty much brings me back to the Buick GNX style vents because I dont think they look that out of place and after all it is buick powered so that adds something to it that kind of makes it ok I think. I have a set here and they are plastic and not the best construction. I may venture into making a set that are welded into the fender as one piece but match the GNX look exactly. Time will tell after the hoods done that's my next decision/project. The good thing is I have fenders to practice on and decide before cutting into the NOS set.

Ed,
I'll bet I know what fenders you bought. A guy (in Pa.) on Maliburacing was selling a pair of NOS fenders. In fact, I see that he noted that they were sold. I think you can't go wrong with NOS sheetmetal. I've heard a few horror stories regarding the fit of aftermarket/offshore stuff.
I was fortunate to buy a pair of rust free fenders from a guy that I purchased my replacement doors from. One of my original fenders, I had to weld a patch in where it rusted out from behind my airdam. I will be using the new fenders on the car.

I could understand your concern about heat buildup under the hood...especially with the turbo. I was going to suggest SRD Art (Ben). I like what he did with his vents. They are very aggressive looking, no doubt. The GNX style vents are smaller and a little more discreet, but will they be up to the task for proper airflow?
You could PM Ben and get his consensus on airflow, etc. He drove his wagon from Utah to Georgia in the middle of summer...and it was a hot one. That was also towing a vehicle behind him, and he managed to stay under 200 degrees...190 if I'm not mistaken.
I'm certainly all for using the old fenders to practice on before cutting into the NOS ones.

Keep up the good work. It's good to see that you're carefully thinking things out.
