I will be using this kit on one of my cars very soon. MalibuDave is a local guy, so that's a plus for me. Post pics of your setup when you have it mounted.

I have one of those kits on the Monte too.
I have a set of US Brake oversize front calipers and the Ford 9 inch drum brakes are bigger than stock so the master cylinder didnt work very good and Dave advised a bigger MC,from a K car.
Works good now, although I found that it took a while to get used to the pedal feel.
One thing that I really like is that the brakes are always there with no worry about low vacuum.

If anyone has any questions about manual brakes, please give me a call. It doesn't even have to be the manualbrakes.com KIT.

Common questions are:
What size master cylinder do I need?

Most Disc/Drum setups you can go with a 7/8" bore master cylinder.
Most Disc/Disc with a stock rear disc caliper (Ford Explorer rear caliper/GM rear caliper with an eBrake mechanism) or aftermarket with less than 3.14 sqin piston area go with a 24mm bore master cylinder.
Most Disc/Disc with an aftermarket rear system using GM metric calipers with no emergency brake mechanism or aftermarket with a piston area of over 3.14 sqin piston area go with a 1.0" bore master cylinder.

If you have Aerospace or Strange aftermarket system on your car, check with Aerospace or Strange to what size master cylinder you need. Usually for just a front or rear Aerospace or Strange setup, they will usually suggest a 1.032" bore master cylinder. If you have a 4 wheel Aerospace or Strange disc brake setup, they will usually recommend a 1.125" bore master cylinder. I would call them to verify with them what you need though.

What I have found also, if you have an aftermarket type aluminum or composite racing seat to sit in, you can go up in size on your master cylinder. Because you are not pushing yourself back into a cushion, like a stock seat. You have better leverage with an harder aluminum or composite seat because the effort you are using to push the brake pedal is not pushing you back into a cushioned seat.

If you have original or older rubber lines, replace them with at least new rubber lines. Older lines will balloon with age and reduce your braking performance.

If you have a 1982-1988 G-body with the original, from the factory, never been changed calipers on the front, they are LOW drag and will not work well with a strait bore master cylinder. These years G-bodies came with a step bore master cylinder which supplied more volume only to the front calipers to get the pad back up against the rotor. Any rebuilt caliper will be rebuilt to NON low drag standards. These front metric, D154 calipers were used between 1978-2004 some years were low drag (1982-1997), and some years were NON low drag (1978-1981, 1998-2004). From 1978-2004, the replacement caliper part numbers are the same and should be NON low drag as a NON low drag caliper will work with both strait bore master cylinder used from (1978-1981/1998-2004) and step bore master cylinders (1982-1997).

Funny story, someone was giving me sheetz about running a brake booster at close to 140mph. Basically, they talked me into converting to manual brakes. So I searched heand came up with this thread (pretty recent). I called Dave and wow, easy to deal with and a plethora of information.

I’ll be buying from him over the winter season and making the swap.

Thanks G-body forum lol!

I will be giving Dave a call I have his kit on my 85MC I noticed the other day the master cylinder has taken a sh*t and with putting the 12 bolt under this car I think I’d like to upgrade to a different master cylinder if I remember right it’s a factory 79 Malibu manual master cylinder on the car
