OK, thanks for the info.

OK, so when we first fired it up it was hard starting, ran kind of rough, and was backfiring a bet when revved up (my MSD setup hadn't showed up yet). But it came in this afternoon. We put it (MSD Streetfire HEI Distributor, and MSD wires) in and WOW what a difference. It fired instantly, ran A LOT smoother and the backfire was gone. All that's left is to get the exhaust done, need to get my old system welded up the the collectors. And then he's gonna tune it and I'll be back on the streets. To bad the snow is too lol.

Oh a couple other things. We couldn't find a used performer intake anywhere, so we just stuck with the single plane it had in the first place. This will be my first single plane manifold lol. For the carb he put on a new Edelbrock 625 w/electric choke. This will also be my first time with an Edelbrock. And he told me (as most people on here agree) that my flex fan has to go. So I'm gonna see if I can find my original one and put it back on. If not, I'll just stick with the flex until I get an electric one. Charcoal canister and A/C have been removed.

Oh, and I was gonna ask this. My 305 had a passenger side dipstick, and the 355 has a drivers side one. What years of Chevy came with what dipstick?

Very Nice Phoenyx! you gotta post pictures of your new set up!

I will, and some videos too. To bad about the snow, but it will still be fun lol.

Yeah, I wouldnt drive my elky in the snow but thats just me, hopefully it doesnt rot out on you.

Phoenyx...I noticed you have a limited slip rear end. Is it an Auburn....if it is take it easy on it cause it has small pinion gears. I blew my auburn this summer and was shocked to see the size of the pinion gears compared to the pinion gears in an open 7.5....I`m switching it out to ford 9` this winter..

NO disrespect but i think you are talking about the correct name the spider gears because a rear only has one pinion gear. And yes the limited slip gears are smaller due to having clutches behind the two side gears so yes two gears are smaller. In an open end all 4 spider gears are the same size and bigger.

Well this will be it's 30th winter, and it's not rotted yet (they don't salt here, only the highway and 2 of our hills that I just avoid in the winter). 8)

And I hope to replace the rear early next year with a 9" and 4.11s. But for now its the weak TH250 I'm worried about lol.

no I'm talking about the pinion gears, there are two of them that rotate on a pinion shaft and there are two side gears...some do call them spider gears but if I called them that how would you would know which gears I was referring to?
