O ok, I was under the impression that they salted the roads. Here in CNY they salt/sand the HELL out of the roads... never buy a car in CNY... My Elky was proof... when i took my TH350 out the x member desinigrated in my hands... i was surprised it did not break under the load of the engine and bumps... I drove it 2 straight summers like that before being told my x member was bad... Well it was worst then bad.. It was Scary Bad! I Am happy my frame is in good condition and that i wont have any problems with that. Look Forward to the pictures and video!

Wow that's kinda scary about your old x member.

OK so here's the latest update. No car yet today, for two reasons. #1 I can't get it into the exhaust shop (to get the collectors hooked up to my existing exhaust) because they are booked solid for the next 2 days. And #2 my mechanic won't let me take the car, he likes it to much and since we are in the middle of an (almost) blizzard and he doesn't want me to wreck my car. And I can't blame him lol, as much as I want it back and want to drive it, I know it would be a bad idea.

But we got talking about exhaust last night, and I asked him what he thought of my set up (my existing system). And he told me straight up that he thinks it's sh*t. He thinks it was done poorly and that it's to small (he said it's only 2", I didn't realize that). So I asked him where he thought would be a good place to get exhaust. He told me no where, and that he thinks exhaust shops are i big waste of money. And that I should just get one of those pre made set ups like many of you on here have. He said he can hook me up for about $400 (not including a new xmember). So I think after winter I'm gonna order one of those setups and a set of chambered turbo tubes.

But like I said in an earlier post, I gotta worry about my transmission next. He's pushing for a 700r4, but I'm not a fan of the 1st to 2nd gear jump in those. But if I could get one with the 1st gear ratio changed I would consider it, but I don't know what that would cost. I'll probably just go with a TH350 because it's cheaper, I know it will be strong, and it will be a direct replacement.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this before. As some of you know I have double adjustable uppers on my rear. But they are still set to the factory length. He has the equipment to set my pinion angle and he's gonna do that for me too.

Well I guess I'll quit rambling on here, I'm just excited lol. It's been months since I drove my car, and I've never had anything with this kind of power lol. I will keep you updated.

700r isn't a real stumbling block. Yeah the 1-2 drop is a pia when racing but I would take the overdrive anyday over a 3speed again. He's pushing for a 700r because they are cheap and plentiful. 200r4 shift pattern is great but they need to be build by someone who knows what they are doing, transmission shops will be more familiar with the 700r.

Congrats on the car and sorry to hear that your exhaust is sh*t ( I had paid good money for the same shitty setup on my Cutty way back when so I feel your pain ). IMO just get the exhaust shop to set up you up with a pair of straight pipes, with an H pipe in the middle right off the headers then you re-use your mufflers and a pair of turndowns ( should only be about $150.00 ). That way in the spring you only need to buy the pipes that go over the axle ( there is a guy in Vancouver that sells the mandrel pipes for gbodies ) and maybe a new pair of mufflers ( crappy tire used to sell the turbo mufflers for $40.00 ea )

whether you go with a 700 or a 200 it will need to be properly built. there are some good companies out there that do a complete performance rebuild for much less than local shops. bowtie overdrives and extreme automatics are just 2.
for the exhaust, pretty much everyone here (including me) like their Pypes system. get the 2.5in.

I don't know what I'm gonna go with. I would probably go with a 200 if I go overdrive. But I'll probably just get a TH350, I don't really take the car on the highway much anyway. And if I had the cash for an overdrive swap, I would rather spend it on a 4-speed swap lol. Hmmm... maybe I should start tracking down another M-22 and the 4-speed swap parts?

i would put a 4 speed in it! look on Maliburacing.com they have some complete 4 speed parts for reasonable prices!

Yeah i should check them out. I did a 4-speed swap on my old GP years ago. I think this time I would go with a hydraulic throw out bearing. And I would use the same shifter as I used before (Hurst Super Street Shifter), I know I don't need that hump on the transmission tunnel with that, and it will clear my bench. And I would use one of those blow proof aftermarket bellhousings. So all I really need is pedals, and I know that 70s Nova pedals will work (that's what I used before) also.

Damn, now I'm really wanting to make it a 4-speed lol. Just have to find another M-22 since my old one got ripped off.

I should start pricing all this stuff out and see if I'll be able to do it next year. If not I'll just stick go a TH350 until I get all the parts I need. And that way my xmember will still work too.

yeah, making me want to start my swap, been putting it off for a few weeks as i am saving money for my cylinder heads...

Well I've been thinking a lot about my exhaust issue. I'm thinking of just scrapping mine and getting one of those pre bent kits. Since the exhaust shops want $300 just to patch up what I have now. I am thinking maybe am H-pipe set up. Where is the best place(s) to buy these pre bent systems?
