Cool build, like others. Want to see how the project turns out

I like the 2010 Camaro taillights. I think they would look cool in your new bumper configuration. I noticed that you filled in the rear tailgate lock hole. What are you going to use to unlock and open the tailgate? Electric popper, button activated?
I don't think the Monte Carlo fenders will line up with the wagon's forward door edge. It sounds like alot more metal work ahead.

The original rear window popper, and a inside doorlock to open the tailgate.
I`m afraid of that. But the Monte Carlo owners in Norway that I have asked for the mesurment have never come back whit the numbers for me, so in the end I just thought, go for it, its most likely easyer ti modify the Monte Carlo fendes to fit the car then make the Cutlass fenders fit the Monte Carlo nose.

You have an interesting looking project there. I admire your ambition. One thing that you might not be aware of-the Monte Carlo front nose piece is approximately 1 1/2" wider than a Malibu nose. I noticed the overhang of the Monte front fascia past the front fenders. Since your Cutlass is much the same as a Malibu, you might want to look into getting the front nose piece for an El Camino SS, and if necessary, you could substitute Malibu front fenders in order to make the front conversion work. Check online for a company in the States called Honest Charley's. They carry replacement front fascias for the El Camino SS, as well as other related parts. Another company to check out is Lauren Engineering in California. They manufacture a Camaro IROC style nose piece for a Malibu. It looks a bit different than the El Camino SS nose piece, but still kind of neat. Good luck with your project. Keep the pictures coming.

Figurd out that hvem det nose fited as bad as it did. Everybody I have spoken whit later thougt the same as me, that it wasn`t going to be THAT MUCH OF A PROBLEM.
But now Im just waiting for Monte Carlo fenders and hood to be delivered. Dont know, but can`t imagine that the Monte Carlo is wider than the Cutlass at the firewall.
El Camino SS nose don`t fit a Malibu if you don`t exchange the fenders after what I have seen.....
Have seen photos of El Camino whit the Camaro front, and mine opinion is that it looks :puke: terrible.

cant wait to see that rear bmper when its done, idk about the lights tho, maybe somewhere else and make it look almost like a roll pan
Don`t see any other good places to put som lamps, LED strips is not leagle in Norway. Lots of things I want to do, but can`t becaus of the law. Apparently we make so manny cars that we know better than the manufacturers. Those of you who thought California was strictly for cars, you shud try Norway. Carparts leagel in California and rest of the states is not leagel i Norway, becaus it`s not safe enough. :?

Morten,
i believe the El Camino SS nose from Honest Charley (Choo-Choo Customs) would bolt right up to the Malibu fenders. However, the front bumper would need to be modified by cutting the ends off to fit the nose and add strength and rigidity to the nose panel. and the downside is that they're not cheap.

I do like the 2010 Camaro style taillights. I think they would look good. I can't think of any other taillight configuration that would look and fit a wagon properly. You certainly can't add taillights to the rear quarter sections on the wagon like you can do to the El Camino. So it doesn't allow you many options, but to use the bumper to house the lights.

Another question. With the bumper tucked up closer to the body, is there enough space for the tailgate to open? It does look kinda close.

Looks like a fun project, but you've got a serious hurdle in your path... You started with an Oldsmobile...

Had you started with a Chevy or Pontiac wagon, you'd be way ahead of the game as opposed to an Olds or Buick.
The problem is the lower body line that runs the length of the car.
Olds and Buick go inward, while the Chevy and Pontiac go outward.

To get the nose on and looking right, you're going to have to cut the front of the Monte fenders off and graft them onto the Cutlass wagon fenders.

You've got a lot of work ahead of you, but it looks like you're got what you need to pull it off! :wax:

Morten,
Just like Longroof79 says the El Camino SS will fit a Malibu front clip, because the El Camino is a Malibu, just longer with a pickup bed in the back. I hope that you're able to get the Monte nose to fit. Keep the pictures coming.

Looks like alot of work, but I bet in the end it will pay off.

Can't wait to see more!

Sorry. Forgot that the malibu nose don`t go strait down like the rest, at least the Olds and Buick.......

The idea of 2010 camaro taillight came from the El Cammino rollpan whit Corvette lamps. I thogt the corvette lamps is to round.

😛 Yes, it dos open, but it`s not much space........

The reason why I started whit a Oldsmobile is that it`s a lot more Cutlass than Malibu in Norway. Then comes Buick before Pontiac. If I started with a Malibu instead of a Cutlass, the car had cost at least twice as much for a bad project

Know about it. have already cut off the lower bodyline part of the Cutlass fenders. But after welded in the rear bumper I alsow have to make a bodykit to match the new lines from the rear and go over to match the Monte Carlo nose.

Got some help from a friend this weekend.
I finishd the rear bumper, just left to place the lamps 8) And I started makeing the bodykit forward.
She grinded the roofs inside for rust and sprayed on a ruststop agent. Then she start taking out the windows of the car.
