The 5660s are a much higher spring rate than the 5606, so the wire will be thicker. The free height can be shorter because the spring won't collapse as easily when the weight is placed on it. Did you happen to get a measurement at the fender lip before you yanked it apart?

The 5660 should put the car at stock ride height. To lower the car each 1/4 coil cut drops the car 1" and adds to the spring rate cause you are making the spring shorter in length

Load height for a 5660 is 10.75 inches with a small block

They will act as a drop spring an inch or two depending on your engine and options

5660's with a big block and ac
