OMG!! Never having my 14 yr old help again lol he thought number 3 blowing on his hand was #1 compression I just did it myself with my finger over the hole 0'd it out holy SH*T I'm 180 off

Throwing blame on the 14 yo?? I look to management

So! She starts where she should but still runs like sh*t all 8 are firing I'm thinking it a fuel problem I have a edelbrock performer carb and intake. Air fuel screws are both set at 1 3/4 maybe a fuel filter or the screen from the electric pump is clogged?

Did you confirm the balancer 0 degrees of timing indeed lines up with true top dead center of cylinder 1? What did you set distributor timing to? Non-vacuum advance distributor, right? (if so I believe you should unplug the computer control prior to setting timing) That's totally off my memory. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken there.

Also triple check your firing order. Even experienced guys screw up that up once in a while.

Its a vacuum advance distributor guy before me swapped engines and put a carb on and I figure he left the pump in the tank. Firing order is right triple checked. Car starts right up but acting like she is starving for fuel both carb screws are at 1-3/4 turn out sprayed some carb cleaner in it while it was running no change

Personally, I wouldn't dive into air/fuel mixture until I know 100% that the timing marks on the balancer are accurate then I've timed the engine to the spec before top dead center is (10 degrees or whatever it is).

Get the engine on the compression stroke and then put a long screw driver down thru the plug hole and get that #1 piston at it's highest point. Timing mark should point at 0 degrees and damn near close to it.

Since the distributor is a vacuum advance type, you'll want to disconnect and block off of the vacuum line prior to dialing in your timing

If you haven't done this or broken out the timing light, you're not ready for any next steps
