Can't wait to see the beast running!! 8)

So did you convert your edelbrock to blow-through style, or am I getting my super and turbocharger stuff mixed up?
Werd. A blow-through has pressure at the inlet side of the carb, his is a draw-through that compresses the mixture after it's pulled through the carb. Either way a carb has to be tuned to compensate for forced induction.

This is something you don't see every day, a draw-through turbo setup 8)

Well, it's in. It starts. It sounds pretty good. Seems to rev quicker with this cam. However, It will only run for a short while, maybe up to a minute long. Then the idle starts to drop and it dies. I tried reving it to keep it running but it acts like it is actually seizing up. When it does this if you hit the key to restart right away it barely turns over if at all. Let it sit for a couple minutes and it will fire right back up and idle on it's own, only to repeat the cycle. I don't know what else to say but **** it. I've had to walk away from it for now....

are you sure the piston to cylinder gap is right?

Never checked it but if anything I'd think it would be to loose. This motor was suposed to be a runner. Previous owner thought it had a knock but after pulling it, found it had a broken flexplate. At least this was the story I was told. I think I posted earkier that when I first put the bottom end together that I could hardly turn it over. All the bearings checked out so I pulled it back apart and cleaned the ring lands REALLY good, checked and filed all the rings, and rehoned the cylinders. After I put it together that time it turned over alot better but, when spinning it there was a "tight" spot. I figured it would just wear itself out but I guess it had other plans.

Now for the most recent update. I went and got my last block. I know this one ran but it also has a broken rod. The plan it to pull it apart and throw the crank, piston, and rods from the other one into this block. I've already pulled the motor back out and apart. I also have the "new" engine on the stand and torn apart. Tomorow I will asemble it and possibly start putting it in. Hope it goes better this time. :blam:

Before I get to the next update, I thought I'd post a pic of my driveway. Should be in the running for "Most Redneck Driveway". I pulled and rebuilt this engine right there.

Ok, starting at about 4:00pm Sunday til now, I pulled the motor, tore it down, put the next motor on the stand, tore it down, then built it using parts from both, then put it in, and got it running. It's been a busy and rough couple of days. Bottom line is, it is running. Still need to set the timing and fix some ticking. I may need to replace, at least, the intake gaskets as I re-used all the gaskets from the other motor  . I have actually driven it a few miles, and done a couple little burnouts(can't help myself). I also found out that there must be a leak in the brake system because the master cylinder was empty. Here's a short video for your viewing enjoyment. 😛

Whew what a week. I've been wanting to get the car cleaned up and get some "finished" pics put up but....

I take great pride in announcing that my lil girl Inara was born yesterday(5-5-10).   Cinco de Mayo baby! I know this is a car forum but this thread was started because of her so i'm gonna share some pics of her(and the car) with all of you. Plus ya might even see my ugly mug. And I did manage to meet my goal of bringing her home in the Malibu. Well on with the pics.

Congrats Jrm81bu!! That's really cool man... I'm going to be joining you pretty soon, my girl is due in September. Ironically, I offered her to pic her up in the Bu as well, but cause I won't have A/C by then. She shot me down lol. So I told her she could walk home lol.
