I'm surprised your truck didn't have these...

Those came on '98-02 trucks. Mine being a '97 got either the small chrome mirrors that my truck had or the giant tripod tow mirrors. The moose antler mirrors that I just installed didn't come out until '03, but the aftermarket makes them for the '94-02 trucks like mine. I thought the small chrome ones looked out of place, like they belonged on a square body or first gen Ram. I think the moose antlers being a bit more rounded fit the truck better. And I'm not actually driving around with them flipped out either. I know I'm a douchebag but I try not to advertise it.

Spent today changing out the oil in the front differential. It looked normal inside. It looks like it was done before because the differential cover was RTV'd. 4.10 gears per the tag which confirms what the door tag shows. I used One Minute Gasket to seal the cover back on and filled it with conventional STP 80w90.

While I was working on the front axle, I removed and tested the vacuum actuator for the 4WD and confirmed it is working so the 4WD is functioning properly.

I also took the grease gun underneath and hit all of the zerk fittings. Amazingly none were clogged and they all took grease.

After I did the mirrors, the door panels didn't go back on tightly because a lot of the clips had broken, so I picked up a box of 50 clips and replaced all of them. Door panels are nice and tight again.

I decided that for now I'm not gonna remove the trim piece on the tailgate, but I took the heat gun and made it black again. This is the first time I've ever used a heat gun on trim but it worked well. We'll see how long it lasts.

I polished out the paint on the gate with my DA polisher and some Meguiars M105. It's not perfect but it's a big improvement and matches the rest of the truck a lot better.

Put fuel in it this afternoon. God help us.

It was 70°F today, now that its getting warm I might have to see about getting the A/C working again.

Dye inspections be damned, time to pull off the home heating oil tank, get some relief.

Cheese and rice, I hope gas doesn't hit us that hard! Those are prices I paid in CA last year. But a $.50/gal increase seems worth it (91 vs diesel) when contemplating a diesel swap long term. 🤔
Stuff has gone up 35 cents since Thursday night. Usually it's about 25 cents cheaper at Sam's Club or Costco but not the case right now. I think Sam's might be 10 cents cheaper. No end in sight until this Ukraine sh*t ends.

Might have to start cooking my own French fry oil.
