Yeah, that's what he had but with a 4.10. We'd race moms in minivans who weren't racing us and assumed we'd won. You knew you nailed a shift when the knob came off. Truck was hilarious and very functional.

I've got a 3.55. It does 0 to 60 before you can finish a Harry Potter book and I'm okay with that. It's a blast to drive and people always beep or wave and want to ask me about it. It gets put to work too, I used it last week to mill lumber about an hour away with a buddy of mine. We milled a bunch of Walnut and hauled ourselves, the wood and all the saws and tools in it.

I have a 98 GMC K1500 and a 97 GMC K3500, so do love the old trucks for sure. Both are modded to punch well above their weight class as well. When I see your truck, it's strange because it doesn't strike me as terribly odd as 1: I have not lived in the rust belt in 16 years and 2: because when I was growing up trucks like yours were the norm.

Yeah these were what was new on the lots when I was a kid, probably why I'm so fond of them. I've lived here my whole life and when you see one that isn't completely rotted, they stand out. It's funny, people always think it is older than it actually is. It's a 1995. When people ask me what year it is, I'll occasionally ask them to guess just for my own entertainment. Most people will guess mid 80s, some people will guess as old as late 70s. This was always my favorite body style though, with the 80-86s being a close second.

And this is why I didn't go crazy making this truck super straight.

Got two yards of mulch today and I didn't feel bad at all about it.

I replaced a lot of those plugs years ago. Pretty reliable transmission if the have fluid in them .
I saw a lot of these broken. It was reverse and 1st or 2nd toasted come into the Ford dealer when new. Oil field guys getting stuck and boom. Along with the failing slave cylinders not ideal.

Good enough is good enough. Old trucks FTW. I don't see very many of your body style on the road these days and that's weird because this state doesn't produce rot boxes the way yours does.

I see them here and there but mostly the HD ones with dump bodies and such. It gets the job done just as well as a new truck would have. Maybe not as comfortably or with as much power, but it is still perfectly capable of doing work.

If it ever shlts the bed it'll get a ZF5 and maybe a 5.8L at the same time. That's assuming I still own it.

Last few tanks this thing has been pinging very easily. Usually I can drive up my street in 2nd gear no issue, but lately it's been lugging and pinging really bad when I do. My first thought was a bad tank of gas, but I switched tanks and filled up at another station and no difference. Also fuel economy has been really bad. Not that this thing was every a fuel sipper to begin with but I'm pretty sure I'm into single digits.

So today I pulled it into the garage and checked the timing, it was right about 12-13* BTDC. Factory setting is 10*. That's not enough of a difference IMO to make it ping so easily but I dialed it back to 10*. I also pulled a few spark plugs to get a look at them. These have maybe 5-6k miles on them. Curious what you guys think.
