TBH, I've never run Rancho but thought it was a good name. I always used to go with the heaviest Monroe, like the Gas Magnum.

Monroe makes Rancho. From what I understand they ride very harsh and have a steep price tag too. Someone else told me they thought their Monroe Gas Magnums were pretty good. I don't offroad this, I'm just tired of bouncing all over. I can buy all 4 Monroe GMs for only slightly more than one Bilstein. Pretty much anything is guaranteed to be better than what I have.

The Duramax I picked up has a Rancho lift and their shocks that have the little knob that changes damping rates. RS9000XL far as I can tell. This truck porpoises down the road something fierce. Doesn't matter which position i put the little knob jobber in, it's boinging along like a......well, you know. Ordered a pair of Bilstein 5100s for the front. Pay once, cry once.

The Saginaw pump is in with two new hoses. The van pressure hose fit perfectly, no cutting or bending required. I didn't even try the 78 F250 hose. The return hose didn't fit as nicely as the OEM but I was able to get it on. Filled it up with Maxlife power steering fluid. It's a lot quieter than the original CII pump.

I also changed out the shocks. I went with the Monroe Gas Magnums. The old rear shocks still felt pretty good, the fronts were wasted though. The ride feels much more controlled, especially around corners; much less body roll and front end plow. And my fillings aren't coming loose over expansion joints and sunken manholes the way they were before.

New shocks are better than no shocks, that's for sure. I won't touch Monroes though, and now that I know they make Rancho that explains why those suck so bad too. I've put Bils on both of my trucks and even those leave me wanting more damping force. I've never understood why folks think a stiff shock kills the ride, to me it makes it better.
