Just curious, but what are they supposed to be? Back in the 70's and 80's they were based off Pintos, Gremlins, etc. Are they just strictly a purpose built racing body, or are they supposed to resemble some type of car?

They are super cool though... I wish I had the kind of bank roll it takes to get into racing. I want to do some dirt street stock stocks hopefully in a year or two. That is if I have the money.

They were never based on pinto or gremlins, they ran on 55-57 chev frames and other rail frames and they ran big blocks for a while. In 85 they change the rigid frames due to a driver getting killed and they have tubular chassis now. The are not any resemblance to any car..and they are louder than any car I have heard...

if you want to get into racing there are some deals out there with this economy but with this economy sponsors are not as willing to hand out $$$

I was referring to the look of the body... Just like Nascars are "supposed" to be a Monte or a Lumina, or a Taurus, or a Charger, or whatever but they really have absolutely nothing in common with the street version. That's all I wanted to know is were they supposed to look like something, like in the old days they were supposed to look like a crazy souped up pinto, gremlin, maverick, vega, etc. If you actually meant they never had Pinto or Gremlin bodied modifieds... Then here's proof.

I'd really like to get into it, I've got guys that would help me... But I really don't have the money and even the cheap classes are expensive. Especially since I don't have a car trailer or a donor car, that was the plan for my Regal but money issues forced that sale of that car.

not to argue but there are alot of modified divisions out there and althou the cars may look somewhat similar a nascar modified is in it's own class..

if you start off in a 4 banger division it's not too expensive, relatively speaking of course, and if you work your sponsorships and have some good showings you could jump up to a higher division and bring the sponsors along to help or completely pay the ride...
