After doing a google search I found a place called OER and they have what I want and there is a dealer for them not too far away in New Brunswick;
I phoned and they do indeed sell what I want,but dont have any in stock.
They are going to order one for me and call when it comes in.

That p/n comes up as '70-'81F-body, '75-'79 X=body.

According to this,from one of the previous links,they can also be used on our cars;

"Reproduction of GM part # 3973089 Clutch Pedal Push Rod Seal
Fits 75-79 X Bodies (Apollo, Nova,Omega,Phoenix, Skylark, Ventura) and 70-81F Bodies (Camaro/Firebird).
This part can be used on 73-77 A bodies and 78-87 G bodies."

Guess I'll find out when it shows up.

OPGI. NPD, Year One (when they sold G-body parts) was selling that one from a different vender listing them as '78-'81 A-body. I bought my first one from OPGI, it didn't fit but at the time no one had the actual '78-'81 boot. I angled it to the best fit but it still wore out quick. I ordered a second one off a Fleabay seller using a pic of the correct one but got another F-body one. I'll have to see about digging out the two boots & post pics to show the difference. Hate to see you spend good money on a part that don't fit right.

Here some pics of the F/X-body & the one for our cars. The one on the right is ours. The firewall side is about 2 1/2" x2 1/2" round for ours as the F/X one is about 2 9/16" x 2 1/4" oval. The mount holes are about 3" spaced (ours) vs. 2 5/8" (F/X). You'll be able to notice the difference in angles of both.

Well.the clutch push rod boot I ordered showed up,so I got the old torn one off and the new one is in place.
The old one was never screwed to the firewall,but I did manage to get a drill in there and drill 2 small holes and got a couple of stainless machine screws in there.
It's not a real easy place to get at.
here are pictures;
