Looks good like a good score Steve. I don't mind working on these Jeep things, and with 2 daughters with Cherokees, I get plenty of practice.

Thanks Mark, I like these Jeeps, they are easy to drive and comfortable. I like the confidence they give you when the snow piles up.

Yeah, my daughter said last winter she tried to get stuck, but couldn't, they are that good. But they do have their issues. Just now the AC compressor clutch bearing disintegrated, it cocked, and snapped the serpentine belt. A new compressor and belt are on order, will take a while, plus it's winter, so I bought a compressor bypass pulley locally. Worked great and she's back on the road (for now).

I put winter tires on the jeep and took a look at the drivers seat to see what was broken. The frame was snapped on the front left side of the seat. I can weld it but before I do I checked to see if there was a recall on the seats. There is no recall but I did find this.

Wow that's some serious sh*t. I would reinforce it so it stays fixed. This is why I hate Chrysler, and unfortunately, the Chrysler-think is taking Jeep down fast. My other daughter has an '01 Cherokee and the glove box hinge broke, cheap-*ss plastic hinge. They wanted over $300 for the whole damn thing, hinge not sold separately. I fixed it for nothing with a section of stainless piano hinge I had leftover from a boat project. Worse, when I balked at the price, the guy said they "had a great selection of new models to choose from.....". I even heard that the new Jeep Cherokees had the WORST service records of any make, yet they are selling like hotcakes because they "look so cool".

the seat in my 03 Jeep isn't broken so I think I'll use that frame and fix the broken one and put in reinforcements where there are tendencies for frame to crack.

I have to change the valve cover gasket.....amazon US, $31.26..amazon Canada $61.30.....

What is going on here? I too just ordered a valve cover gasket. The damn thing is oozing all over the motor. I thought the rear seal was shot, but it's from the valve cover. RockAuto- $21.

I have the same problem. The seller told me that he had the pan replaced cause of oil leaks but it still leaked after so the mechanic told him it was the rear main seal. That doesn't make sense since the hardest part to change the 2 piece rear main is to remove the pan. I have engine oil dripping off the transmission so it must be the rear of the valve cover is leaking and it's travelling down the bellhousing. I cleaned most of the gunk built up on the valve cover and the bolts this evening. I got the felpro gasket kit for $60 from a local part store so that wasn't bad, relatively speaking of course
