I've watched the forum for a while and have found a lot of info here. Finally decided to contribute some lol. I have an 83 Cutlass Calais project. I plan on LS swapping. First car was a 84 Regal 455/400 in 2005. I also helped my dad build his 79 Malibu. So I’m not such a newbie to the Gbody life!

Welcome to the forum. Nice looking G bodies you've got there. I'm sure there are a lot guys on here who would be interested in seeing a build thread on your Cutlass when you get started.

Appreciate it guys. I no longer have the regal unfortunately. It was my first car when I turned 16 and started my addiction to gbodys and drag racing. It started out as a v6 car. I drove it that for a few months while rebuilding an Olds 350 rocket and a turbo 400 for it. After about a year with the 350. I built an Olds 455 rocket for it, turbo 400, cleaned up all the body work and repainted it that silver and black two tone, new black carpet, seats done in black and silver, dash/ interior black and left it at that. That’s what it was like when I got rid of it. After a couple years of regret and missing it, I attempted to hunt it back down and buy it back. I finally found it a couple hours away and it had been destroyed. Sitting on blocks, motor blown, and interior destroyed. It was depressing. Malibu is a 1979, I helped my dad build, started it when I was about 13 ( I’m 29 now) it’s track only car. 406 sbc- iron sportsman heads-split duration roller cam, pop up pistons- high compression, power glide trans, 8.2 10 bolt mini spool 4.10 gears. Nothing wild, it’s an old school style build, but it’s pretty quick and fun. I ran across the Cutlass for a good deal so decided to grab it and do an LS build. Unfortunately a 2 year old daughter has made the process much slower than when I was 17-18 years old. Anyways plans for the cutlass is a stock bottom end 5.3, new head gaskets, eBay head studs, and I’ve had a hard time deciding between going carb and nitrous or fuel injected d turbo. Nothing set in stone yet but I’m leaning hard towards running the FiTech standalone ecu and a GT45 turbo, probably with the hooker log manifold or something similar.

Don't waste your time with the head studs, it won't need them. Stock head bolts are fine. If you're paranoid then run ls9 head gaskets.

10-4, I didn’t really feel it was absolutely necessary, as I’ve seen and heard of people pushing these probably much harder than I will without them but figured it was security. I’ll take your advice on this one.
