I looked at the napa site, and the cable it brings up is for a floor shift at 29.3" long, but does not fit a hurst shifter. is it possible to measure yous and see if maybe yours might be the same as this one?
https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_6202301

I've noticed a trend with all the suppliers, that they don't really give alot of info on what their parts actually fit... hope this helps.

This is ALL the travel I can get from the cable.........the shift lever is in neutral. and will go no further

That is not the correct cable for that shifter. Just going by my memory the length should be 30. 5" or there about and the cables were the same in all other Olds Hurst years with dual gates even if it was a T350 OR T400.

Not 100% sure of that from my experience. The 70-72, 79, and 73-75 H/Os had different cables for different years. Recall the lower bracket for cable mounting for TH400 is slightly different than 350. I'm not sure if it's just the bolt mounts or the distance to the lever itself.

GM dualgate numbers were:

70-72 showed p/n 406266. 73-75 p/n 417536. Have no idea what the differences are, if any. It's weird because 70-75 showed the same part number for the dual gate shifter itself.

The bolt mounts are different, but the distance is the same. All of the dual gate shifters that I have seen and had looked the same to me. when I had my 79 TA I mounted a dual gate in it from an Olds with the original cable and it worked.
