As said, the yoke is different, there is supposed to be a conversion u joint as well. You may be able to reuse your original cross member, I did between a TH250C and TH2004R, same position as the TH400. Since your car is 81 and older, you will need frame extensions which are available aftermarket. I would also like to know if anyone one here has the drive shaft length for a short tail 400 with 7.5" rear end?
OOO understand... thanks....The 2004R and TH400 mount further back on the frame where the crossmember bolts on. Since there were no TH400 or 2004R trans used till 82, frame extensions are needed to bolt the cross member in.
No Th700r4s had the Buick Oldsmobile or Pontiac bellhousing. All were chevy. You could use a Th200r4 with the frame extensions, crossmember, and it has dual bolt pattern. So it works with BOP and chevy stuff.Well past day I think contantly about the transmission , options:
Engine : 350 oldmobile rocket 68-72.
Base: 1 .-> 1987 ECU with quadrajet , CCC.
Base 2.-> 1995 TBI from a Chevy Silverado 5.7.
option 1 : TH 375, 400 case, , need to expand crossmember , cut shaft , new
option 2 : TH700, same....
option 3 : TH350.
the question is : Oldsmobile produce a TH700 with olds style bell housing?
Thanks ,
Waldo.
